I guess I burned out from the main VSG board awhile ago.  Tried to go back, but honestly?  Life got in the way and it's awesome!  I work a lot (not new), exercise a lot (new since VSG since I only exercised a moderate amount before then), and am traveling like crazy.  It's great!

Headed out for a 12 mile run right now!  Just remember, we can't help everyone.  Help those we can and move on from the rest.

Opinions and ******** everyone has them!

I know what you mean, Elina.  The main VSG board is overwhelming, not only with SOOO many people, but with people who have been given poor or no diet guidance by their surgeons.  And the things people post about having eaten!!

Instead of popping in over there two or three times a day, as I used to when *we* were active there, I usually only take a quick scroll-through once a day, if even that.  And I don't even look at most posts. If someone asks an honest question, and no one else has given them any advice, I might say something. Otherwise, I just shake my head and move on.

And in addition to the folks you all named, I miss OldMedic and Brandilynn Wonderland!!

I love you guys!

I miss them too.  I never passed up one of Brandilynn's posts.  They fed my spirit.  I miss her and her wisdom.  He truth has stayed with me however, and I often ask myself what she would have thought about a particular situation.  Old Medic was the straightest of the straight shooters.  The new folks would have really hated him.  :)

Gosh, I haven't though about Old Medic in forever.  I always liked his posts but he got flamed so badly at times and I was surprised he stayed around as long as he did.  He is a good old guy for sure.  And I surely miss Brandilynn.  She is such an awesome lady...just like you : )

I completely agree! This is one reason I very rarily reply to any post. The posts that really get to me are the ones from my surgeons patients.

I've seen several from the same person. It is ALL I can do not to reply and say I believe you have the material, READ IT!!

My surgeons aftercare program is one of the best, very comparable to Dr C's and his office will educate you on proper nutrition, if you are willing to listen.

Any way, I will keep reading and post hesitantly as I feel necessary. I honestly think you are one of the most respected vets on the board and people do listen to you. You will always have those that feel they "know it all" and so be it. Dont let those few define who you are!!

Sending you big hugs Elina. What comes to mind is that we all come to the operating table with different life experiences. Some of us are older. Some are facing their first "dieting" experiences. Some have great surgeon follow up, some nothing. I think that the ability/willingness to give up the dream that the VSG takes care of everything, is more difficult for some. I spent a long time in OA working with a sponsor, learning about the mind/heart connection to why I ate. I feel really lucky that I came to VSG already eating low carb, tracking my daily food etc. not all are as lucky.

I try to keep some compassion, as I know you do also, and try to remember restraint of tongue with the ones I want to scream at about their childish approach to a life altering opportunity. There's no instant solution or or instant gratification to what for many has been a lifelong problem.

We are indeed the lucky ones to have each other and the voice of reason and sanity. Thanks to all of you that keep me honest with myself!
