Suddenly lactose intolerant

Hi y'all.  I've been drinking a protein shake every morning in order to get in 25-30 gms of protein.  I've noticed lately, though, that I have big tummy/bowel issues and now I seem to be  lactose intolerant.  I think I read somewhere in this forum about what's a good replacement for high-protein drink, but can't find it.  Any ideas?  I'll miss the protein (whey) shakes as they were easy and I liked the taste.  Thanks!

Whey protein isolate has the lactose removed. So you can still do Whey protein just don't do Whey Protein Concentrate because that has some lactose still.

Awesome - thanks a lot.  I appreciate the time you took to respond.  I'll give it a try.

I became lactose intolerant post-op. A lot of whey proteins are lactose free and those were better but still gave me problems.

Recently I've become a vegan. There are a number of vegan protein powders out there, but a large number of them are soy. I'm trying to limit the amount of soy in my diet so I choose SunWarrior Raw Vegan Classic, which is a complete brown rice protein. It doesn't have a lot of flavor so I just use the vanilla for everything and add cocoa powder, sugar free syrups and/or extracts for the flavor.

If you don't have a lot of other soy in your diet, then I'd recommend you try the soy proteins as they're supposed to be more similar to the whey proteins in taste and texture.

Thanks, I'll give that a try as well.  Appreciate it!!  Isn't this the best forum of info?  I don't know what I'd have done without you all.  This maintenance thing is tougher than I thought it'd be, but thanks to you all I've learned a huge amount of good info.  However, the snack monster has reared it's ugly head.

I've found that weight loss doesn't make me happier, but it sure makes me feel a whole lot better about myself.  The elephant has left the room!

Now - those snacks.....................
