Eating our way down memory lane

So hubby Shrinking Nerd and I just got back from an 11 day trip for his high school class reunion, checking on my elderly mom, seeing his siblings and all sorts of stuff. Much restaurant eating and class reunion dinners and ****tail parties and such. We did indulge in some nostalgic foods from our midwestern home including a certain pizza and runza sandwiches plus prime rib at the place we had our wedding pre dinner. I had a lot of wine and we were always eating odd stuff at odd times. Still we kept to higher protein and while i went over my calorie budget a few times, it wasn't huge and i didn't do a bunch of sweets or carbs. the pizza place is now only an all-you -can eat buffet for a fixed price. we got take out and when they saw how little we had taken, they charged us only for one  under age 12 person.

Saw brother Roundater *****cently had some plastics on excess skin. he looks great but still has one drain in. About 5 lbs of skin off. I am amazed but pleased he did it. got pix, will post.

The best part was the reaction of hubby's sisters and nephews who hadn't seen him since before the surgery and hadn't seen pictures. they were astounded. So were some people at the class reunion who had known hubby at his fat weight. may have talked a couple of fat friends of his into looking into the surgery. they were impressed. And we visited the stately old high school and ran up and down loads of staris with no problems.  We got into the habit of using the stairs at all the hotels we stayed at. Easy.

so all went well. i got busted for having a 6 inch galvanized nail in my purse (purchased for an art project and I forgot about it) by the tsa at the airport. At least they are doing their job. my mom is in declining health so i guess i will be traveling more often.   hubby and i were so thrilled about the airplane seatbelts and how spacious planes seem now. Who'd a thunk that would ever happen.

Hi Diane!  Sounds like a great trip!  And I know how fun it is to fit into those seats and belts!  Food sounds like fun and proof that off-plan is okay every once in a long while!  Sorry your mom isn't doing well -- in my thoughts!  ((((((((hugs))))))

Congratulations on a great trip!  I hope you post pics soon.

Did you already mention if the scale moved up or down with 11 days of unusual food?

I am asking because I have a trip planned, Dec 21 thru Jan 1, a family reunion,  and I'm thinking it through now.  Will ship protein powder to the house that we are staying in.

I know we will eat our favorite "Pizza my heart" .

So happy for you both to be together on this journey of finding so much space on an airplane.  Love that comment.  :).

we both came back weighing the same.  no gain. i often lose weight on a trip and i have dropped a pound and a half since returning which i attribute to water from salty unusual foods.

by all means take your protein powder or ship. my husband did and continued his shakes for breakfast and we had protein bars, almonds and made a lot of little store trips for berries and other things. worked fine.  you can do it. AND  no big deal if you have a slice of pizza. enjoy your trip.   diane
