VSG Maintenance Group
Just a curiosity poll/questions for the ladies..
Only excluding the guys as they tend to need more cals than us as a rule..
Ht/Wt/activity?
Just because it does effect how much we generally need: 5' 6.5" and 137.6 today.. not terribly active, but not sedentary either.. I'm up and off the bony butt more often than not, but don't do cardio per se, and weight lift heavy 1x week.
What is your goal range, lbs spread wise?
I've got mine set at 5lbs at the current moment. (136 lowest ever, to 141).. May revise down if it turns out my body wants to be lower, we'll see. I wouldn't mind dropping a bit lower, just to see what it'd look like on me, as long as I'm healthy about it.
What is your average weekly caloric intake to maintain your particular range?
Just figured mine, these past couple weeks have averaged 1400 & 1600.. I try to stay at or under 1200 normally but these last few weeks have been one social event after another and very few days were in that range, and liquid cals stack up fast accounting for the highest days (I can hit 2000cals if I'm not careful, but that's rare.) I am maintaining within my range at the 1400-1600 weekly ave, though don't feel comfy pushing it that high right now as a rule..
What are your Carb/Protein goals in maint?
Mine: 50g carbs incl 20g fiber, and 113g prot.
Just playing a little mental math to see how my body has been reacting to the uptick in cals/shifting in macros recently. Still hanging around 50-60 or so carbs a day, 15-25 fiber.. 100-115 protein.. Slowly dialing it in I think..

I am 45 years old. Same surgeon as you, sleeved on 2-11-11.
I am 5 foot 8 and 1/2 inches tall.
The scale has stopped at 133. I go up about 1 pound and that is about it (usually salt related) then drop back down. I weigh daily, first thing in the morning.
I am a size 4 and sometimes a 2 in pants.
I work out at the gym 2 or 3 times a week with weights. Wish I could get there more but my work schedule gets in the way. I do walk the dog daily, fast paced 2 mile walk around the lake.
I eat about 1500 to 1800 calories a day. This is not difficult and I don't feel deprived. I go over that number on an evening out when wine is included. I don't see the wine on the scale.
I wouldn't mind dropping a few more lbs just to see what my butt would look like. However, I don't really want to reduce my calories either. Probably need to bump up the work out if I am serious. I am not under weight until I hit 118 so I well within a normal range.
I eat about 70 grams of protein a day. Sometimes more. I do limit my bad carbs to 30 and do go over sometimes.
No complaining! Life is grand!

I do truly appreciate the "not deprived" feelings these days! If I'm eating clean and not having wine, the days I hit 1600 are a lot of food and I'm just a tad concerned as I'm still losing in this range.. will prob need to boost them up a bit more even. My metabolism definitely isn't broken it seems.
I hear you on "trying on the weight".. I alerted my husband that if I started to look too damn small, to gently cue me in. He only said that I looked "done" last month at my 136 weight, so I'm prob getting close. I'd be interested to see 130 though, just out of curiosity.

Hi Jo! I am 49 years old and coming up on 4 years out here in January. I am 5' 7" or so and sit about 133 to 134. I rarely fluctuate more than a pound or so and have been this weight for roughly 2 1/2 years. I probably eat about 1500 to 1800 calories per day but I really don't count anything except for protein. I try to get in 80 to 100 grams per day but still find it difficult. I am no longer a foodie and could care less about eating but make myself eat every 3 hours...yuck! I have been lucky in that I have never had to watch carbs and sweets are a part of my diet. If I eat too clean I start losing again and I look too skinny as it is.
On exercise, well I do high intensity cardio 3 times per week for about 35 or 40 minutes and I lift heavy weights 3 times per week for an hour. I work out with a man so I tend to be competetive with him even though I can't come close to his weights but it makes me push very hard, lol. This is all done in 3 sessions per week cause I need the other 4 days for recovery. I've done this routine for almost 25 years and the only difference is that before VSG I did cardio 5 times a week for 1 to 1 1/2 hours. That was a lot of cardio. Now I don't need to do so much or I'll keep losing.
I could probably use more protein but it's hard to get it in and 1 shake a day is about all I can stand anymore, lol. But I do have a killer 6 pack!

I never lost my foodie ways! Lol, I just kinda shifted what I used.. nut flours instead of grains, etc.. I have my occasional drink or chocolate too.. keeps me happy!
I work out with a trainer doing super-slow heavy lifting to muscle failure 1x a week, and those last few seconds are quite the rush as he's encouraging me to dig in and keep trying to move it.. and the weight isn't going anyplace or slowly going back down. Noodled afterwards, but the results have been wonderful, and gains in strength every week- so I can't beat that!
I hate cardio, always have.. but I do love to dance and hike, so when I can I get some of that in too!

I'm 5'2 1/4 (don't forget my quarter), 129.4lb today, age 45. I eat 1500-2000 calories daily to maintain.
I work with a trainer 2x weekly, and I do cardio another 2-3 days a week, generally. I also do 1 or two 15 minute fast walks a day, about 1 1/2 miles total. That's mostly to get me up and away from my desk.
I eat 120-150g protein, often as much as 120g carb a day, but none of it's 'white' carbs or actual sugar. My carbs come from greek yogurt, fiber, etc.

My walking is going to be curtailed unfortunately, new job has a 30min lunch break- and must stay on premises.. grr.. Oh well, there's always after dinner!
I've been bumping up the carbs, but since I avoid white carbs as well, it's been an adventure in trying to get in more.. I am getting plenty of fiber these days though, so that's good in my book.

I'm thinking my maint calories are going to get shifted higher, esp since I'm returning to full time work on the 22nd (that's going to be a whole other post I'm sure, with eating/timing/calorie packing challenges.) At this range, I've still been losing a few lbs.. with a new bottoming-out low number every month.
Last low swing started to make me nervous but then got the hormonal gains and that settled me with being comfortable around 138-139.. Seems every month brings a slightly lower OK point (..scary low/..gain/..level out.)
I am down to a single pair of jeans that fit my butt, and I'm itching to find out what my real jean size is.. as all I have now are consignment/thrift. Going on vacation for 4 nights, and that's something I plan on doing, stopping at Nordstroms and just trying some on! Not buying, just trying.
It's interesting to see the ranges that others are in to maintain. I've been upping both fats and carbs slowly over the last month or two, not trying to stop the losses dead, but trying to do an ease-in approach as I'm feeling on the border of just right, with a spooky week in there.
.. considering it's the start of the holiday season, I probably shouldn't be worrying over this too much huh?

I'm 58 and 5' 3".
I usually work out 5 days a week for about 40 minutes. I walk about 1.75-2 miles then spend 5 minutes doing lat pull downs or another machine for arms but .... have not done anything for the last 4 weeks. i have gone home everyday during my lunch hour instead of to the gym because we are in the midst of a bathroom remodel (our only bathroom) and needed to check in with the contractor. So, my routine is way out of whack.
I have not been journaling my foods but know I am getting 80 to 100 grams of protein and more carbs than I would like. My snacks are usually veggies. I now enjoy red wine again and a martini now and then. If I feel I"m getting out of control I find it pretty easy to get back to basics.
I wear size 2 jeans (some are a little baggy) and small or extra small tops..
I am very happy where I am and love being thin! I can't believe it when people call me "tiny".

Houses under renovation seem to be our lives too.. but bathrooms are the worst (esp when you have only 1!)
Glad to hear getting back to basics is still easy for you. It seems that since surgery- when I do go off plan for any extended time- last longest time was three weeks (huge vacation, I enjoyed myself fully!) it does show on the scale, but jumping back on plan isn't the hardship it once was.. I can fall back into the normal day-to-day eating and the body responds by dropping the alcohol/carb fluids/fat gains fairly quick.
I don't find myself doing the fall off the wagon and stay off for days routine I used to.. Part mental, but I swear part is indeed hormonal.
