Brachioplasty Suggestions
Hey all;
I have decided to get my arms done. There's a lot I could do and who knows what might happen in the future but for now I need to get rid of the weird pouchy skin on my arms when they are by my sides. It's weird.
Anyway, I'm looking for suggestions on what to wear afterwards - what should I bring to wear home from the hospital, especially as it is day surgery so I'll be going home the same day. What am I likely able to wear for the week or two following? I'm assuming soft button up fronts? What about bras?
Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Congrats! I had a revision to men last week. Ask you doctor what type of surgical compression you will be given. Mine has a built in bra with sleeves that I wear 24/7 for six weeks. This is to allow your skin to adhere to the sub layers. Without that process it is possible to develop seromas which are pockets of fluids. If the garment is just sleeves, a front hook bra. Button shirts are good. I have a scoop neck, sleeveless sun dress that I just put ver my garments at home. I throw a little zip front jacket over it. Be careful not to raise you arms to reach for things. Put everything you will need for a few weeks on the kitchen counter. Lower your head to wash your hair, do not reach up. No fast moves with your arms. Don't lift over 5 pounds. Don't carry a bag, hug it to your chest with both arms. You do not want to stress the incision lines. Stay out of the sun. A white thirt is only 15% PFC. Incisions are permanently dark if we epose ourselves to the sun.
You are going to love your arms! I love mine. ❤❤❤❤

Hi PS -- I had brachioplasty about a year after VSG. Bat wings GONE!!! I love the results!
What I did for clothing (and it was summer when I had mine done) was to go to cheapo clothing stores and buy several one-size-too-big sleeveless, button-up-the-front shirts. They worked great! I don't believe I tried to wear a bra for a couple of weeks; maybe just an old cotton undershirt while I was at home recuperating. My arms were wrapped in ace bandages, with drains coming out of the elbows for the first couple of weeks, so baggy soft clothes were the ticket.
One thing I did pre-brachio that turned out to be very helpful was that I bought two cheap round bolster things (firm round cushions), because the doc told me I would need to sleep with my arms elevated for a while. Before I left for the hospital, I wrapped each of them in old towels and put them either side of my pillow in my bed. When I got home, I climbed in and rested my arms on them, and they worked great! The towels were to catch any leakage from my arms.
I also had covered my recliner with an old towel, as well as any other place I might sit or lie during the day, so that I wouldn't leak onto the furniture. It worked really well.
Best wishes on your surgery. I hope you will love your results as much as I do!
