hi guys!!

sooooo excited and never thought i'd be doing it, but i'm having surgery in a couple of weeks!  at 105 lbs down, i've stabilized enought to do it per surgeon, so . . .   boobs and tummy!  i went from a 42DDD to a 38D, so my boobs are pretty scary looking and whille my tummy isn't too bad, i figure why not do it while they're in there!  boobs are covered by insurance.  tummy is $7000, i have $1200 flexible spending and i'm putting the rest on my low-interest credit card.  23 hour stay so i'll be outta there way faster!  2 wks recovery (mostly b/c of the tummy) and i'm just over the moon!!!!!!

just thought you'd like to know!!!!!  forward facing boobs, here i come!  as my pal Brian-the-nurse-practioner at the bariatric center (not to be confused with Brian-the-surgeon . . . ) has said to me: they won't be watching you tie your shoes!

I am 3 weeks out from TT and BL/BA and I can't believe that my nipples face forward and I can see a belly button. The first week is hell though, so make sure you have someone with you those first few days.

Good Luck,

Heather

Hi Heather,

Which of the two parts caused you the most pain?  The TT or the boobs?

I am going to have to have the TT, but that's all.  Just wondering how painful it is.

Definitely the Tummy Tuck hurt way more than the boobs. The most aggravating thing was the drain, which is gross. I would say it was 3 days of Hell and then I turned the corner, and so glad I did!

Yep, Jane, my post-op pain after the tummy tuck was horrific, but, you know, some people don't have that much pain with it, so it does vary.  It is the sliced and diced abdominal muscles that are so painful, because we use our abs for *everything*!!  The first time the nurse made me try to get out of bed, I thought I was going to die.  Couldn't do it ... but as I lay there on the side of the bed hurting like the dickens, I had the thought that this was one of the best things I'd ever done for myself, and I meant it with all my heart.  The pain was much better the next time ... and the next time ... and the next time I got out of bed, and got progressively better through my whole recovery.  I never had the slightest regret!

I also had a breast reduction at the same time, and I didn't really have much pain with that, just a little discomfort.

Those two procedures I had before the VSG, when I had lost a bunch of weight once before.  Of course, I gained all that weight back, heh heh, but the two surgeries held up extremely well.  There doesn't seem to have been any damage done to them by the weight gain.

I also had a brachioplasty (bat wings chopped off!) after VSG, and I am thrilled with that, too.

Anyway, you didn't want to hear my whole surgical story, did you??    Best wishes to all of you who are "losing skin!!"

How exciting! I'm a little surprised the insurance is covering the boobs - do they somehow consider them not cosmetic? Regardless, I am happy for you and would love to hear how you progress.

Oh yay!  You're going to be so happy when this is done.  I had the lower body lift and thought it was the easiest of my surgeries.  Just be careful not to make any quick bending moves that would disturb your tummy incisions.

I wouldn't worry about the drains. I had eleven at once and just made friends with the "Alien Babies".

Be sure to please check in and let us know how you're doing.
