Food suggestions wanted
I am struggling a bit adding calories to maintain, rather than bounce up and down like I seem to be doing.
So here's the struggle: I seem to be able to eat a normal meal of 3 oz dense protein and a 1/4 to 1/3 cup veggies and on a really empty day I can even eat a couple bites of polenta or sweet potato. But, that's it.
A normal day looks like this:
B- protein coffee
Snack -3/4 cup Greek yogurt w/ 1/4 cup berries
L- 3 oz protein, 1/3 cup veggie
S- beef jerkey 1 oz
Post work out- protein shake
D- same as lunch
S- either yogurt or some almonds
I also work out an average of 1 to 1 1/2 hours five days per week. When I eat like above I lose weight. When I start to add food, I either get too full and can't eat it in a meal or I choose higher calorie carbs food that seems to set me up for cravings and it is indeed a slippery slope. Sadly, almonds don't satisfy and set off a trigger. Avocado is a good add to a meal, but
Idoes take room.
I am not whining, but sure would like some help on how to do this a little more easily. I'm thinking I should just add to one of my snacks and make it more of a meal.
All suggestions welcome! Thanks everyone!

This is hard for me too. I started including more calorically dense foods - nuts, my home made protein bars, etc.
If I eat a meal and don't get at least 20g of protein I feel like I failed - My new habits trigger emotions - isnt that a kicker!
With your protein, try some marinades or sauces with calories - I started including a honey-sesame glaze on my chicken.
Try replacing your morning protein coffee with boiled eggs or a meal. Quest bars are a good snack with also a source of protein. I stopped using them because of the expense and the carbs. Some Vitamin Shoppes carry them - you could try them.

I also cooked my veggies in olive or coconut oil. My favorite is sliced sweet potatoes brushed with coconut oil and baked with some salt on them.
When I was training for my 1/2 marathon, I would eat a spoonful of peanut butter in the middle of the night when I got up to use the bathroom. Not really a good habit to get into, but there's only so much room in out little tummies and you gotta do what you gotta do!
