I couldn't say for sure. I think the 5 day pouch test is more popular with the bypass than the sleeve.

When I get to the point where I want to take off weight. I just go back to my doctors original plan. 600 - 900 calories a day, Minimal carbs and about 80 - 90 grams of protein. I stay on this plan until I get to where I want to be and then gradually increase the calories and carbs until I'm back at maintenance.

I call it back to basics.

I'm at that point now. gradually heading back down to my range.

Highest Weight: 380                      Consult Weight: 357             Surgery Weight: 309

Thank you very much Mike. I never got specific calorie carb rules for very far out. I also never got to goal. In your minimal carbs about how many grams a day do you get while losing ?  I appreciate the help

Many people stick to the 600-800 calorie, 40 grams of carbs or fewer, and 80-100 grams of protein per day. It sure worked for me.

My plan didn't give numbers either. But when I ate according to plan my numbers fit perfectly into the above model and having a number really helped me be accountable and committed to my WL.

I sure hope being back at these levels starts weight loss again after all this time.

I'm another that just doesn't get into the 5DPT, in reality, it's just a crash diet- for us or someone that's had a bypass.. and I personally would find going back to liquids very hard and for me, would likely lead to a bounce-back-binge once I'm free to eat solids!

I just go back to the basic plan that you see around here, which was the same as my Docs:

600-800 cals till goal
under 40g carbs
over 70g protein (women, men higher)
tons of water.. I get at least 100oz
Plus activity daily, walking, working out- just do something you enjoy and can do routinely..

It worked, I got there- and am still staying close to this most days of the week to get a little leaner.. I was a little tougher in the carb dept, I kept it down to 20g total carbs a day while I was in the fast losing stage, and slowly upped to 40-45 and more cals now. Hope this helps!

I've had really good results with the 5 day-pt. The biggest thing i get with it is that it resets my hunger and knocks out my cravings.  I don't use it to drop weight per say but i did drop 5lbs last week after a summer off, (i hadn't gained any weight, i just was having a hard time with cravings after my summer of hedonism).

This is the 2ND time I've done it in 13  months and i have very little weight to lose (maybe 10lbs) and i wasn't sure I'd drop but i did.  I usually do 3 days of shakes then 2 days soft protein.  This time because i was enjoying not feeling hungry, i did 3 days of shakes (the first 2 days are always excruciating) then 2 days of shakes and Greek yogurt then 2 days of soft protein.

My cravings are gone, i haven't had sugar since and my hunger has abated.  It worked this way for me the last time too.  So for me it's a reliable reset button.

Good luck

I think anything you can do to knock out the cravings would be beneficial.  I am working on this, as we speak.  I had some blood work/food sensitivity testing done and I have a pretty strict diet to follow for the first 7 days.  The goal is to calm down my system by cutting out foods that cause my body to react.  It's also helping with the cravings.  If the 5dpt works to do this, then go for it.
