Hi all. I'm baaaack

Been AWOL for quite some time.  Been busy living life.  Initially, my computer crashed.  Once I got a new one, I just haven't come back to all my besties!

I'm now 2 1/2 years out and holding my own.  I did gain about 5 pounds over the past 2 weeks of eating mindlessly, but I'm back on track and lost a pound since yesterday.  No worries.

Water exercises all summer.  I miss that already.  Back to walking.  I can't believe how much more I feel the walking now after having the water buffer all those movements all summer.  But I persevere and keep on keepin'on.

A couple of exciting things going on.  Next weekend (the 15th) my daughter, daughter-in-law and I are going ZIP lining!!!  I'm so excited!  It's on my bucket list, yet I'm afraid of heights.  The girls won't let me chicken out though, so I'm prepared to meet it head on.  The place we are going is a "tour"with 7 different levels of zips. They tell me I WILL go on all 7.  lol

Secondly, my DH  had some heart issues this past spring and spent 4 days in the hospital.  So, I decided that while we are both healthy and able, we are going to take that trip to Hawaii now.  We leave Nov. 10 and return the 20th.  I am going snorkeling while there.  Another bucket list item checked off.

So for all of you who haven't yet met your goal, it is SO worth every sacrifice that you are making.  I'm 61 years old and living life like no other time!

Goodbye 165 pounds, hello life!!

Those people remind me of slinkys. Not good for much but it would would bring a smile to my face if someone pushed them down the stairs.

Enjoy your Hawaii trip! Nothing like it... and chase a lot of fish for me, my favorite thing to do in warm oceans.

I've wondered if the water is cool or warm...or somewhere inbetween.  I plan to just wear a swim suit, but one of the tours says that they have wet suits available.  Wondered if the reason for that is cold water.

I've swam around Kauai & the Big island, both to me felt warm- not as warm as the Caribbean- but didn't need a suit. A rash shirt to protect against the sun may be good if you are prone to burning.

Thanks for the information.  I may want to check into a rash shirt since I'm not generally exposed to sunlight a lot.  I do plan to pack sun screen.

Hi Diane!  We will be out of state the first weekend of October, but if we can meet for coffee (or tea in my case), I would love to meet  you!  Let me know if you think we could make connections!

Forgot to add.  We are going to Hawaii Island and Maui.  The snorkeling will be a tour from Maui.  Haven't booked it yet, but think I know which one we will do.  Did you take an organized tour or did you just go on your own?

Hi Wanda

We took a small boat to the Molokini crator in the bay. the boat only took about 8 people.  great snorkel spot. but we also did lots at other beaches where we just walked into the water. most on the southeast end of the island. the dive shops can give you a map and tell you where the best ones are. some are easy to just walk into. others you have to be a better swimmer.

would love to meet you when we are back.  we are in omaha oct 5-6, then in lincoln a few days and in des moines the weekend of the 12-14.  not sure what all we are doing. will send a pm.   but for sure i am eating a runza.   diane

I could just as easily go to DSM.  In fact, our daughter lives there, so I would get to see the grandkids too.  Lincoln is also 2 hrs (all 3 cities are 2 hours away), so no big deal which place we meet.  My DH spent the 4 days at Lincoln ByrianLGH hospital, so I managed to learn how to get around there pretty good!

The snorkel trip I want to take also goes to the Molokini crater, which is the reason I chose it.  It goes there, then some place where there are lots of turtles.  I wasn't sure how comfortable I would be just going in the water on my own.  I'm not a strong swimmer by any means.  My dad is worried I'll be attacked by a shark. lol  He has to have something to worry about.

Do you remember the name of the tour that you took?  The one I chose said they would have up to 45 people on board.  I would prefer a smaller group, but didn't see anything much smaller than that.
