3 years out..."The skinny"

Here are the numbers....

From a grand high of 236, down to a super low of 117 in about 18 months. Maintained for a looong time effortlessly at 123. In the past 9 months managed to creep and eeck back to 130-132 and cannot find the motivation or discipline to get it off.

The extra weight feels heavy now. It makes a real difference! I wish I could flip that switch "on" again but I am just stuck! Oh well, if anything I have learned about weight through the years is that it "comes and it goes" so I can trust it will also come off again when it is time.

Anyhow, that doesn't matter all that much...after 3 years, from a size 24 to a 4-6 now and infinitely happier with myself, I can say it was well, well, well, worth it when I step back. The extra pounds do help with the flabby skin and sunken cheeks :)

As for the VSG, I would do it again in a heartbeat and frankly I LOVED being super skinny. Mentally and physically it was the best I have ever felt in my life....

So, best to you all! Keep up the good work and keep supporting one another!

Very hard to get off these carbs!! I am on my third day and have lost 6 lbs just from not eating those nasty bad carbs!!

So that being said, just be aware.. just my thoughts, ... not to offend you please don't take it that way.

I can sooo relate.  I'm 2 years out this month and up 24 lbs. from my lowest weight.  It is disturbing.  Everyone says I look better, but I feel every pound of the increase.  It's hard to get the motivation back.  But that doesn't mean I never will.  We all know what it is to be in the "zone" when dieting, and how hard it is to be there.  I don't think I will take off 24 lbs, but 10 would be nice.  Guess this struggle lasts a lifetime, VSG or not.  Best wishes to all.
Highest weight ever recorded: 224lbs.    Surgery weight: 194 lbs.
Goal range:  130-135 lbs.
  Lowest:119.7   Current weight 142lbs Height: 5' 2" almost

Word to all of this and all of you.

At 2 years out I'm up 5lbs, the good news (?) being I was up 10lbs a few months ago.  Last December I decided, "It's Christmas, time to take a food break!" and boy howdy did I!  I've been carrying the results of that excellent decision since then #sarcasm.

What is a little nerve-racking is I'm training for a half-marathon and still the weight wasn't coming off until I started seeing a naturopath (long story there).  Lost 5 and have been holding there since.  Very frustrating.

I knew going into the VSG that, like all other WLS, I would have to maintain a lifetime of vigilance to maintain any loss.  Perhaps I ddn't realize that meant a lifetime of vigilance? I'm trying to recognize this as a good thing - a lesson to learn at 10 lbs.

And I too would do this again, the same surgery, same everything - it has been a lifesaver.  Even if some of us have gone up some pounds, my guess is we're still much healthier than before.
