Maintenance-Terminology........

Yes, Maintenance is the right word.....

Nearing 3 years out and 2 years at Goal Range.....

The terminology for the word Maintenance changes........

At first your just trying to find your levels and tolerances........and it takes a bit to get your balance.....

Some things work and some don't  (Nope, Ice Cream and Donuts still make me fat)

My interpretation for the the word Maintenance and it's terminology now mean:

Protect and Preserve what I have worked for !!!!

Amen, brother.

Since I had a 30-pound gain a couple of years ago and found how hard it was to get back on track, *this* time, I'm "protecting and preserving!"  I had to get sick ... really sick ... to get rid of those damnable 30 pounds, and I ain't having them back again this time!!!

It is amazing how easily the weight fell off when I was housebound, other people had to bring me food, and I was too embarrassed to ask anyone to bring me crap food and junk food!  There are silver linings to most clouds.

Best wishes, Frisco, on your continuing maintenance!!

Well said frisco.
I already found out I cannot even look in the direction of most carbs so I'm not counting on most of that stuff being a part of my maintenance. I'm ok with that ... most of the time!

Ditto on the well said Frisco.

I have refused to call my self "maintaining" because it felt so new.  I looked at my weight chart earlier today and realize that I have been at or below my goal for over a year now.  I try to preserve and protect  in a two pound range.  I guess I'll reframe my thinking and call maintenance. It feels like a carrot that I've been dangling and holding out from myself.

That doesn't negate the possibility of dropping a few pounds. As Dr. Cirangle said, it's always  good to have current goals!

I agree...

In my support group we often talk about that WLS is the opportunity to hit the reset button. Once you are reset you have the possibility of going either way. There are many that fail but also many that succeed. the WLS is only a tool and it is up to you and only you to use your tool correctly.

I have resetted my life and I'm determined never to go back to the old me. It's onward and forward from here!!!

maintenance means never having to buy new jeans until they fall apart and then go get the same size without even trying them on!  diane
