Good morning. How are you this fine day?

My Mom turned 84 yesterday; my family sent her a big bouquet of balloons, which she loved. Unfortunately, Mom's mind is declining faster than her body and I'm struggling with that. When I called to sing Happy Birthday to her, she couldn't remember how old she was turning until I told her. She seems happy, but things like that break my heart.

Today's weight 140.8. Seem to be settled into this new weight now.

How about you?

Highest weight: 335 lbs, BMI 50.9
Pre-op weight: 319 lbs, BMI 48.5
Current range: 140-144, BMI 21.3 - 22

175+ lbs lost, maintaining since February 2012

I apparently suck at this maintenance thing.  Upping calories again to 1400/day.

I understand about your mom.  My parents are getting up there too.  Even though they are both healthy and active I worry about them every day.  I am blessed to say that at 41 i count my parents among my best friends.  Probably exacerbated by DH losing his Grandmother last wee, who was 81.

We can suck at maintanance together - we're a team!

You're going to have to go higher than 1400 calories, I can guarantee that. I'm very active and am at 1600 - 2000 (depending on the day's activity level) to utterly fail to maintain my weight. I'd bet if you keep running you're going to need at least 2000 to maintain yours.

rob, i think we are a similar size and i have to eat 1600-2000 everyday. i honestly sway low a few lbs during the week then make up for it on the weekend. you will have to up man, im sorry. i had the same problem early into maintenance. i ate like a hog yesterday and realized i was just very hungry and have learned to trust my body more. i was nervous to get on the scale this morning just to see im down about a half a lbs. i ate about 2200 yesterday. there is no exact calorie count your body will vary and we sadly have to learn to trust it again.

mom, i am sorry to hear about your mom. it would similarly break my heart. Just think of all the good years you had but heck that would not be that helpful to me either in that situation. Wish i had an answer instead of just empathy.

As far as my tattoo, it is very complex and the outline alone took over three hours. It is circuitry like on a motherboard complete with caps and cathodes spelling out geek. there are hexagons around it that make the design come together. the artist called it the geek virus. if you would like I will send you a pic if you give me your email.

That's an awesome point about learning to trust our bodies again, i never thought of it that way before.  I have become used to questioning, and distrusting, every craving and impulse that has to do with food.   I am still afraid of seeing the scale go up - and I have seen the same pattern, I will go up a half to a pound on some Amy's, then back down over the week.

It's raining cats and dogs today. Going to the gym to cross train but will probably get soaked in the parking lot. I hate wet shoes.

Too many parties this past week. Plus added weight from the cross training and upping the weights. Going to go back to basics, two/three protein shakes and a small dinner for a few days to take the 3.5 lbs off. Hopefully

136 lbs (grrrrrrrrrr)

130.5 Which brings me almost back to the middle of my range. I knew some of it was water! Stupid salt.... Or I should say stupid lack of control to stay away from salt!

The cold I was working on the last couple days is in full swing. I'm taking extra vitamins, some Mucinex nose spray, Zicam, DayQuil, etc. to get rid of this nastiness because being sick is not an option right now (or at all this semester). 2nd day of classes today... This is the long one, Lord help me!

It IS hard isn't it so see our loved ones decline.  Either mentally or physically.    All we can do is love them more through the tears.

Down one.  164.
