I "ran" today!

My daughter is a runner and very fit, so for the last 2 days, I have gone "running" with her instead of doing my usual step routine. It's in quotes because we're doing the whole run for a minute, walk for a minute, run 2 minutes, walk a minute, etc. thing. We went for 45 minutes and today I managed to run for 5 minutes straight. Very slowly, but for me it's huge! I actually am pretty fit cardiovascularly but I've just NEVER been able to run. Very cool NSV for me...

I've heard of that--I should look in to it. How long does it take to get up to running steadily?

It's a nine week program and you run for 20 minutes for the first time in week 7 or 8. Up until then it's all intervals.

Lizanne, That is so cool and a great NSV. I remember the first time that I did that on a Treadmill. It is a great feeling.

Your area has frequent 3K,5K, 10K walk/run activities.

I'm so excited for you Lizanne. It's great to feel the wind isn't it?  I've been adding some sprint intervals at the end of my hikes.  I feel more accomplished about that than the hike. I'm doing very little and wnt to build up.   I just found my misplaced iPod that has the Couch2 5k so no excuse now.

Bravo for your NSV!
