Corn Dogs and NSV's

So sleeved hubby and I went to our local county fair yesterday. Easy enough for us skinny people to walk and walk looking at the pigs, cows, bunnies, chickens, goats and exhibits. The first nsv was going to the ticket turnstyle and i started to automatically walk around it and then realized "hey I can walk though this!"  and hubby proudly walked through it too. The second was looking at the crafts exhibit at a lovely full length mirror someone had made and realizing we could both stand in front of it pretty close and see our full selves and we looked pretty good!!

Then I went to get what I refer to as the annual corn dog. I eat one per year at the fair. Last year I was only able to eat about half. This year about 3/4 but i picked off some of the cornbread stuff. It was actually pretty sweet and greasy and rather gross. Best tasting part was the mustard. Hubby ate about a half one.  So thats the last corn dog for another year. Can't say I really crave it.

We set step records on our fitbits.  And were grossed out by the display of decorated cakes. Truly some ugly stuff that I can't imagine anyone eating. And all the midway food - cotton candy, carmal apples, popcorn, bbq, chicken wings, funnel cakes and all the other junk held absolutely no appeal. we stopped at a local fruit stand on the way home for white peaches.    Its great to be skinny..  Diane

I'm sorry, but corn dogs are just gross. I don't see how anyone can eat them!

I actually find a lot of fair food to be tempting. The funnel cakes always look so good to me. But they never taste as good as they look. But soft pretzels are yummy. As is BBQ. And soft-serve/yogurt.

It can be trying for me to avoid all that but it's not like I can eat everything I want to so mostly what I do is tell myself I can have one thing once I eat my meal and then when I eat my meal I'm too full for anything else!

yeah corn dogs really are gross. but for some unknown reason I want one just once a year. i know they use the worst imaginable hot dogs in them (i will not eat hot dogs) and the batter is so greasy and suggary. but there it is. as i said the mustard was the best part. this is one thing i know that eating one of will not be a "gateway" to a corn dog orgy. naga doit.

and hey i forgot another nsv. had our carpets cleaned monday. have used the same service for many years - a one guy operation. so he hadn't been here in a couple of years (filthy carpets) and the first thing he says to us is OMG have you guys lost a lot of weight!!!   a good business man indeed!  he was all interested as his daughter had rny some years back.  anyway, nice to see someone who notices.  diane

Sounds like a good time (sans corn dog!)
My fair temptation has always been the red candy apples.. not the cinnamon flavor, but the red candy flavor.. what is that flavor?? It's been a few years since I had one.. and I remember every year, popping one of my braces off eating one.. every Summer.

Sounds like fun, Diane!  We also had a local country fair this weekend.  I splurged on a few bites of DH's bacon cheeseburger and a few fries.  The rest of the stuff doesn't interest me and never has, but I still love fries, dammit!

I just love that the gross food no longer holds that appeal for me too.  That is by far, the best part of having my sleeve.  It use to call my name, hold me in it's grips and I would eat my corn dog, the kids corn dogs and a few bites of my husbands too and wish that I could have two more corn dogs.

The same with fast food.  I use to drive around running errands and have to talk myself away from the drive thru.  It's not even on my radar anymore.  Having that obsession removed is so liberating!

Now if only I could focus this new time and energy into somthing that makes money.
