3 1/2 weeks without weighing in...

I don't post much but do read & try to stay up with what's going on.  I am almost 2 years out (how did it go by so fast???).  I spent most of the last month with my daughter who moved across the country to get back to Texas.  At the time they moved, she was 37 weeks pregnant & has a 4 year old (our pride & joy).  So being a mother, I went to help them out with the move in &  the birth so I've spent 3 1/2 weeks without a scale to weigh in.  I have weighed every day since surgery if I'm home.  I also spent 2 1/2 weeks in June travelling abroad.  I ate well and avoided the deserts and high carb foods, walked & sweated all day, but still came home about 2 pounds above my comfort zone.  Same thing happened this last month.  Getting discouraged that I am seeing the scale go up :(  I know I eat too much peanut butter, but it is my one craving that I have after surgery.  I haven't felt like I was dieting the last 2 years, just a new way of eating, but I am now looking at the terrible D word.  Oh to have the tiny stomach I had 3 mos out of surgery!  I know 2 pounds doesn't seem like much, but that's what always started my downward spiral after every diet I was ever on.  Being short, 2 pounds makes a difference in the way my clothes fit since I am always at the top end of whatever size I'm wearing!  Just need to vent :(

I would weigh, measure, and log your food, if you're not already doing so.  This way, you will find out where you are at. Also, ditch the peanut butter. It is really high in calories and if you are trying to lose weight, it could hamper your progress.

I hear you. I am only 4'11" so every pound does make a difference.

well you can take care of this pretty easily and it could be water and salt stuff. so just cut it back a little for awhile. take care of it now before its more. chances are its just a bounce and not really fat gain. journal and make sure you get protein.

and i am a peanut butter addict too now. (it used to be peanut butter cups). so i have a blob or two daily. trying to keep it to just one. so i hear ya!!   diane

Thanks for your responses.  I didn't clarify that pretty much all I eat is protein.  My carbs come from peanut butter, almonds, flax seeds, low fat Greek yogurt and low carb flat out bread.  I also enrich my pb with protein and flax seeds but I know the fat calories add up. My diet is really boring as I don't cook much. I know I need to cut back the fat but I had been maintaining pretty easily.  Just hard to figure how you can gain weight when you're either walking or working :(

You could be gaining muscle which can register as a weight gain.  I weigh about 2 pounds more than I did last year but my fat percentage has gone by about 4%.  I will take the lower fat percentage any day.  My clothes fit the same but I have more definition, especially in my arms and thighs.  Also, if it's hot/humid you will defintely retain water.

How tall are you?  I just noticed that our stats are pretty similar.  I'm only 5'2, 46 years old.  I average right around 135 lbs.

I have walked more and gone up & down stairs a lot over the last 2 months. I can only hope it's muscle! I'm 5'3 or 5'2.5". I was at 139 today and had been staying around 134-135 before June. I'm working on eating more green salads for snacks. I will get this off!
