I always seem to lose while I'm away from home. I think it has to do with the limited time I have to eat my food compared to the 45 minutes to an hour I take to eat a meal at home and all the walking / unintended exercise I get.

What kind of drinks are you going to have? We went to an all inclusive resort and after the first day I coulnd't stand the thought of any of the sugary drinks.

There are LOTS of drinks that won't put you too far over on calories. I NEVER drink soda, but I've found a diet coke with Malibu Rum goes down pretty good!

I'm sure you're also a light weight which will also limit how much you drink!

Jen, you are totally right, I am a lightweight.  I drink one and a half glasses of red wine, and I am good to go.  Alan calls me a cheap date.  :)  Probably two rum and diet cokes would more than do me for the whole evening.  Great point.  Usually, I drink vodka cranberry, but I could try the rum and coke too.  Thank you.

well first you have to ask dr. c and see what he says so we know if we predicted him.

I predict that for most patients he would say be moderate during vacation but because you have done so well and are so good at keeping after stuff that he would say be active and have a good time and don't worry too much.

and thats what i say too. the others are right. i often lose weight when i go out of town due to increased activity.  enjoy and tell us all about it.    diane

I agree with everyone else, let your sleeve do its job by filling you up easily with dense protein and let the extra activities take care of the fruity drinks. lol.  I just got back from a week at a cottage and definitely ate/drank more than usual, but also more swimming, kayaking etc.  I stayed the same or maybe even lost a lb.

Enjoy!

I think it's highly unlikely you'll gain 5 pounds on vacation. You might in even lose. You'll be doing a lot of walking and other activities and won't have a lot of opportunites to snack.

You guys have a lot of confidence in me, it's kind of nice to know as I am sitting here, munching all evening long, missing my husband.  :(  This has not been one of my stellar eating days. But really, I get it, you guys are all right and I will be fine.  I might even lose a few pounds as I am going to be very active.

Here's my two cents (for what it's worth)...Make a batch of green chicken soup and freeze that puppy so you're prepared upon your return....then go on Vacation for crying out loud!  Have a wonderful time!  You will naturally gravitate to the protein because that is your "normal" now but do the decadent stuff too if you want to.  Your tool and increased activity will take care of that.  You're gonna be just fine.  Personally, I stay away from the fruity drinks - they just don't appeal to me anymore.  My alcoholic drink of choice is Sweet Tea Vodka mixed with water.  Tastes like tea bu****ch out!  It can knock you on your tiny little butt (I'm a lightweight too now).  No carbonation and only vodka calories...just a thought.  Have fun!

Deb, do all bars have this amazing sounding Sweet Tea Vodka?  I might be in love.
