What an eye opener!

Hubby and I went for 1st Bod Pod fat testing today. Wow, Just because I look healthy doesn't mean I am....I am 23.2 BMI but a whopping...drumroll.....35.1% body fat!!!! That's 47.4 pounds of fat on my 135.1 frame. The personal trainer told me to substitute more heavy weight training for cardio. I work out 7 days a week and do some weights but not consistant enough. This is this reset I needed. Starting today I am going to up my weights and clean up my diet. I am making an appt 12 weeks from today to see my progress. As for the Bod pod it was a breeze! So much easier than the water displacement one I did in the past. All it took was sitting still for about 45 seconds 3 times in a eg shaped pod. The cost was reasonable too! Only 32 dollars.

I would be interested in having a bod pod test done. I recently had the hydrostatic weighing test done, so it would be interesting to compare the two results. I wonder, if the Bod Pod measures a higher level of body fat? I think Macdame's test was relatively high, compared to a previous test, which makes me question the how large the margin of error might be.

If you haven't been doing weights and just focusing on cardio, you may be burning up a lot of your muscle. Also, a clean diet is very, very important for getting your body fat down.

Wow Tammy, that really is an eye opener.  Where did you have the testing done?  I want to do it to get a real idea of what's going on in my body.

Missed you at lunch yesterday!

Hi Lee. I googled it and found the Cosmed site that had locations listed. The one I wen to was in Livermore at LifeStyle RX a part of the Valley Care system. You don't have to a member to do it which is great. They have a physical therapy setup and gym there. basically a total wellness program. If I lived closer I might haved joined the gym. They have the TRX system classes going on which was totally cool.

I wanted to go yesterday but had agreed to work for someone a couple weeks ago when I thought it as last weekend and not this....when is next months? I am out of town the 18th and 25th...

Thanks for the info. I think next month is at a water park.  The 18th rings a bell. I won't be able to go.  Maybe September!

I've seen in you person and I'd be totally surprised if your body fat was that high. I'd guess it's more like 26-30%

What did your hydrostatic test say?

Hey there Marie! I think it was about 25 but I have put on about 8 Pounds though. I have emailed the service to get my last stats so I will see. I did get new bewbies since my last test so I am curious how those play out....didn't think to ask this morning.

But could 8 pounds account for almost 10% body fat? You can do the math yourself ... just take what they said your lean mass was in the old test and your current weight and assume anything you gained is fat and see what you get for a number.
