VSG Maintenance Group
mindfulness
I would go so far as to say mindfulness is right up there with exercise for long term maintenance tools.
maybe that's because I have binge eating disorder, not sure. I do think the more "tools" in your toolbox the better!

once upon a time I had a group to talk about Binge Eating Disorder, and later one about Clean Eating.
PM me if you are interested in either of these.

Interesting article, thanks for posting....I think the VSG has helped me have mindful eating because I have to think about the space that I have and whether I really want that particular food....and I do usually choose quality foods, and when I do indulge I want it to be something really worth it...
I also definitely see how stress and boredom played into my gaining weight pre-op....

Thank you for sharing this article. I don't believe that this approach is strong enough during the losing phase, but I do believe that it is one of the cornerstones of maintenance. I hit upon most of these techniques early out; at about six months after reaching goal, and have been following most of them ever since. I think mindfulness along with keeping an eye on the scale, and exercise are the keys to long term maintenance.
The problem is that mindfulness only works if your appetite control system works. For many of us pre-op, it's broken. So doing things like "paying closer attention to their bodies’ hunger cues" doesn't work because our cues are lying to us.
But after WLS, it's awesome!
