VSG vs Rny for GERD

My Gerd is worse.  I am on 2 Zantac, and 2 nexium a day to control it, but I still get a little breakthrough.  When it's worse than usual, I'll add an additional Nexium.

Incidently, my GERD got worse AFTER my gallbladder surgery at 6 months post-op, so I am unsure which surgery is to blame for it.  Gallbladder surgery also rendered me lactose intolerant.

I am trying hard to not eat foods that trigger the GERD, in order to make it better.

I would still pick the VSG over RNY despite the GERD.  I love the fact that I do not have rerouted guts and that I do not have malabsorption of micronutritients.

Lately, I've been charting when I have breakthrough GERD, and then seeing what foods might have triggered it.  So far, I've discovered I can have only one cup of coffee in the morning.  I can never ever use cocoa powder, tomato products are out of the question, no bell peppers, black pepper, garlic, and onion.

Also, I did not have a hiatal hernia pre-surgery, but really want to check if I have developed one since then.

edited to add that I actually have to take 2 Nexium a day now...
