Some input from the Vets?

Below is a pic of a body analysis that I just got. It looks good to me. The woman who did it said my BMI is probably lower than the readout because I have runners legs, very muscular (now did that not sound great?!)
Anyway, just wanted to know what the Vets think and if I should be tweaking these numbers at all and/or if the daily calorie amount seems right.

I hope you can read it. If not it's in my profile too.

thanks

Do you think she meant your body fat %? Because BMI is a formula of height vs. weight and is not impacted by your body composition.

She must not know what she's talking about then because she did say BMI.
I asked because it shows my BMI as 24.5 which is the very high side of normal.
The rest shows right up the middle.
Body Fat % 26.4
Body Fat Mass 37.4 lbs (which my little machine at home says the same)
Basal Meabolic Rate 1334 (not sure what that is)
Daily Calorie Intake 2188 calories (which I think is a little high)
Impedance 416 (no clue what that is)

My question would be, if I lose another 5 lbs of fat, how would that effect these numbers?
Thanks

So I think what she probably means is that your BMI is not reflective of not being as healthy as someone with a smaller BMI because you are muscular.

You can figure out what losing 5 pounds of fat would do with a little math. I cna't see the original too well or I'd do it for you but I do that kind of math on myself all the time.

Like I'll subtract 10 pounds off my weight and see what my new body fat % would be (assuming it was all fat that was lost). It's fun!

Math is not my strong suit but I can get my husband to figure it out for me.
I am just on the fence about the last 5 lbs.
Eh, I'll figure it out.

thanks

Not a vet yet, but lurking and learning... and I do know math :)

Basal Metabolic Rate - basically its the number of calories you would burn in a day at complete rest.

Impedance is a measure of the electricity they shoot through your body when they do the measurement. They use this as the raw data to compute hydration and fat %.

Body fat percentage is calculated as  Weight of Body Fat / Weight of your body.

So if you weigh 100 lbs, and your fat weighs 26.4, you'd have a 26.4% body fat.

If you lost 5 lbs of fat, but nothing else, you'd then weigh 95 and your fat would weigh 21.4, and your body fat percenage would be 21.4/95 = 22.5%

Make sense?

Even better - if you lost 5lbs of fat AND simultaneously gained 5lbs of muscle mass (not easy to do really simultaneously, but you get my drift)...

Your fat would again weigh 21.4, but your total body weight would stay at 100...  so your body fat percentage would drop to 21.4/100 = 21.4%

I'm using 100 as the example body weight so I don't have to break out a calculator... lazy....

As they say in the math textbooks, "The application of these formulas to your individual situation is left as an exercise for the reader"
