Please tell me to throw out my underwear!!!

This is probably the most stupid post of the week.  But, what the heck, I'm going there!!!

I've read that many of us have had issues with letting go of our fat clothes after we've lost weight.  I remember Diane posting about it a long time ago.  She had issues, as well as many others.

For me, I've been able to let go of almost all of my clothes.....except for my underwear....

That's right.....my underwear!!!!  I love my Lane Bryant underwear.  They are in good shape, well made, and so big on me that the bikini's are sticking out at the top of my jeans like a pair of granny panties.  Yet, I keep wearing them, and am coming out of the closet with my unattractive little secret.

Lately I bought new underwear, from Target, and they are divine.  They fit so nice and are so comfortable.  In fact, after the initial pack of 3, I went back and bought 7 more packages.  This gives me a grand total of 24 new, well fitting panties.

The problem is.  I cannot get myself to throw those large undies out.  I've tried several times, only to get  weak and put them back in the drawer.  What the hell is wrong with me????  Why am I attached to them???  It's sick I tell you!!!

Please, be a friend and yell at me, tell me why they need to go bye bye. And does anyone know why I am having trouble parting with them????  I am the queen of decluttering my house, I don't blink at throwing things out or donating to charity.....except for these undies.....

As I type, they are still lurking my in dresser drawer......

Trish, you clearly have way too much drawer space!  Does your husband find those oversized panties to be sexy on you?   I bet not.  Take it from a single girl, dump the panties!  If you need to fill that drawer go find some sexy little numbers to wear under your clothes when you're out on the trail hiking with DH.

Thing is that you've waited years and put in hard work for those divine undies.  Go have fun with it!  You really do deserve it,  they  will never fit again!

Throw em out! And go get some hanky panky panties! They are expensive, but super sexy and comfy, your husband will thank you! Also the undies at Costco are cheap and super comfy, not quite as sexy tho.

I totally get you.  It took me forever to throw my granny panties out.  I had to go to my favorite lingerie store and spend an awful lot of money to make myself do it.  I don't know what it is about feeling "safe"  and in our comfort zone in our old panties.  The truth is that I do feel different wearing my new hot well fitting undies.  It did change my perspective and maybe even the way I carry myself.  So the difficulty of letting go of the old ones makes more sense.  You just need to do it.  Gather them all up and throw them away. Do it today.

I finally did it when i ran out of room. got new stuff and then more new stuff and got tired of accidently pulling out the giant stuff. So go buy more new proper stuff until its too crowded for the old stuff and then throw out the old. Thrift stores around here will take decent lingeree and women's shelters often need larger sized things for women who escape with nothing.

It was a day I celebrated when we tossed Shinking Nerd's giant old briefs. They were really trashed and were so awful they went straight to the trash. good to be rid of that.

Gotta admit i still have some "mid range" bras here that are too big now and in perfectly good shape. and still have some more fat clothes. they just gotta go. Dr. thinks I have some emotional issue. I know the truth - just lazy.   Diane

I would say, hang onto them until you're ready to let them go.  There's some kind of undeniable emotional attachment to them, and we have SO MANY changes going on at this stage of our WL journey, that sometimes it's a comfort to hold on to something we love, and that's familiar.  They'll be gone when it's time.

I had trouble letting go, too.  What I did was layer the old pairs in between the new, well-fitting ones.  Each day, I took what was on top of the pile and put them on.  A few days of pulling excess fabric out of crevices and pulling up sagging drawers led to me tossing the big ones at the end of the day.  Somehow, throwing them out one by one was easier than tossing them all at once.

I am 3.5 yrs out and i just tossed mine 2 weeks ago, when i was in my sexy jeans and i checked myself in the mirror and my panties were bunched up hanging out the top of my levi's. Anyway, I went to Macy's and bought $300 of thongs, feel so much younger!

I really get you also. I am over 2 years out, and still hangin on to those large sized panties. I have bought plenty of new ones, and find that I am beginning to gravitate toward the better fitting ones, but still not ready to throw them away yet.

Wishing you all the best, Carol
count your blessings!!!!   At goal weight.   I am 5 ft 3.

The biggest are mostly gone, but the cheap ones I bought during weight loss are all still around. But then again, so are lots of too big clothes.

I've made a deal with myself... as I purchase some newer, well fitting pieces to rebuild my wardrobe, I will get rid of a bag of the old stuff.

It's hard to part with all of it, but it does get easier to do.
