 Hi Dorothy,

It sounds like you're doing all the right things.  It sucks so much that sometimes our bodies and our weight do things that are just beyond our control - it's so unfair.  Please know that I'm sending you good vibes from where I am.  Hang in there!

You have not been dealt an easy hand. You are doing the best that you can given the pain and limitations that you before you.

You are doing the right things..you surgery is less then 2 weeks away. You didn't go in gaining weight..you have gained fluid.

Focus on your future..the happy healthy and pain free mobile person that you will become..the few pounds in either direction aren't going to make a huge difference at this point..but your attitude and feelings of positivity going into this could make a huge difference in your recovery.

Throw the damn scale away. Keep doing all those healthy things to prepare yourself..mind body and soul. The numbers on the scale can come later...like when you can walk and stand and shop pain free!

My thoughts and prayers are with you!

Don't be so hard on yourself.  First of all pain has a lot to do with all of it.  Narcotics can make you have food issues, cravings, etc.  You aren't moving any more than you have to...DON'T beat yourself up.

My husband has dealt with back surgeries for 20+ years.  And narcotics has caused his weight to go up and down all the time.  Once you have the surgery and things are better with your back EVERYTHING will get better.  Also narcotics doesn't really help nerve pain...nothing does really.

I'm so sorry you are going through this, it's not easy (you already know that).  I will keep you in my prayers.

Hope you are feeling better real soon!
