Daily Maintenance Weigh In - Wednesday 6/20

Howdy

Here's the deal. When I wake up in the morning and my normally-loose rings are tight, I KNOW it's not a good idea to step on the scale. It's likely to happen fairly regularly this summer, as I'm prone to retaining fluid in hot weather. I won't let it go more than a week without weighing regardless.

So this summer you may see a lot of daily maintenance weigh-ins started without any actual weight from me.

How about you?

PS: Being puffed reminds me: Krazy - how did the Doc visit go? Any luck on getting your prescription?

Its awesome you know yourself so well mom. I am still learning. It feels like my weight is lowest in the AM but then again im on the road most of the day fixing computers so heck if I know.

On a side note I wanted to see a whole new me. I decided to change the way I dress. No more dockers and casual button ups. I am wearing slacks and a tie every day now. All the people I work with swear I must be interviewing for a new job everyday lol. I just want to look good to go along with feeling good! Beside I noticed last round at the goodwill that the prices are about the same for shirts and pants so I may as well right. Beside now I am wearing Pierre Cardin and Ralph Lauren. I cannot believe more people don`t shop there. Designer pants and shirts for 6 or 7 bucks is crazy! Ill have to get all spiffy and photo ***** it up on here one day.

Photo Ho away! I love it when I get a new outfit. I feel good, better than I ever did. I see nothing wrong with sharing the feeling with people who can relate and you can give some incentive to.

I too retain water in the heat. I have found the best thing is the diet cranberry juice. Low cal, low carb and it helps a lot. I also know that when I get up in the morning if I gotta pee right away I am down a good solid pound. LOL

so this morning was a good morning.
140.5 another couple pounds to go to get back to pre-vacation weight.

Gonna be pushing the cranberry today! It's going to be in the 90's here for a while!

I really had the munches yesterday. I made it up in the gym though. Still at the weight I want to be at.

What the heck?  158 again.  Those two crummy pounds from last week are back!  Thinking... thinking... about what I might have let slip back in to my diet in the last few days.

There is one distinct disadvantage in not journaling my food -- when I can't remember what I ate, heh heh -- and that usually happens when I have eaten sloppily.  But I have learned from years and years of experience that if I try to journal long-term, it sets my mind in the direction of crazy thinking and serious lying, i.e. "I ate a whole box of cookies, but I'll just put down that I had 'cookies' and count it as one serving."  Stuff like that.  Happens EVERY time. So I finally quit trying to journal.  I do better if I just think protein first, protein first, protein first, oh and then veggies next :-)

Alrighty then.  Time to get more serious!

Whoops-up a pound to 124.2. But then, I am having some serious lack of cooperation in my lower half, if you know what I mean. Gotta get back on plan and knock off the ropa vieja (all the Mex food I made is now gone, thank goodness!). Today is hump day. Have a great day everyone!

Doctor's visit was frustrating, but I did get my script for HCTZ.  I'm going to have to change endocrinologists and find a 'holistic' doctor that's willing to prescribe a combination T4/T3 pill. My T4 is high while my T3 remains low and my TSH remains somewhat high. Throwing more Levoxyl at the problem is just going to make my iron issues worse and further impair T4/T3 conversion in the liver.

I was going to hold off taking the  HCTZ until this morning, but I hopped on the scale in my bathing suit before going out to swim some laps last night (I literally couldn't fit into my running shoes), and the horror of what I beheld (137 which is 'overweight' for my height) led me to take it at 7:00pm.  It also led me to swim about 100 meters further than I had planned despite it being a 'light' workout day. My pool is not really designed for laps -- it's 11.5 meters long, but in a pinch I can swim 400 meters  or so before I get tired of making turns.

Taking a diuretic at night isn't the best thing to do to ensure a good night's rest, but it did make me feel better. It's going to take a few days before the fluid works it's way out of my legs The good news is I actually feel better hydrated since the fluid is not collecting in my legs and it's remaining circulating in my blood.

105 even today.  It's all good.  My muscles are really sore, and I need to work out today again.  I am wondering if that's OK?  My trainer is on vacation this week, so I can't ask her.  I did weights on Monday, elliptical yesterday and am thinking of doing weights again today.  Is that not enough recovery time?  I am so new to all of this.

General rule of thumb from back in my bodybuilding days was 48 hrs. If you are still sore, I would still do it but go easy and tread lightly as to not hurt yourself. I assume you are on a regular two body part per visit routine so just do your 6 sets a bit lighter and do not push too hard or you will be hurting tomorrow still but in four quadrants instead of two.
