Water

Does anyone still have issues drinking plain water this far out? I'm 2+ years out from surgery and have no problems drinking anything flavored, but plain water is still uncomfortable.

I really want to get away from all processed foods & chemicals, but this is a huge hang up for me.

My preferred drink is grape Powerade Zero. I got off of it for a few months, but now that it's hot out I'm finding it hard to stay hydrated without my Powerade and I've started drinking it again.

I remember a discussion about this issue a while back.  Someone explained it well.....Macmadame, Diane....sublimite, Brandylynn??  It had something to do with the hardness of water not being alkaline enough??  I'm not sure, something about adding baking soda?  Someone said they drink Safeway water that has baking soda in it already?

Help me out guys....I remember a thread abou****er PH effecting our ability to drink enough....

I have the same problem.  I drink propel, or squirt lemon juice in my water plus a little splenda.  It goes down so much faster and easier.  It's not such a blessed chore.

Trish, I remember that thread. I think I'm just having a bit of a pity part because I want to be able to drink water like I used to. Obviously I have found ways to get my fluid in!

This has been on my mind a lot lately because I ran a 1/2 marathon a few weeks ago and struggled to drink during the race. My last few miles were miserable because I was getting dehydrated and my calves cramped up. While I was running, I couldn't get more than a sip at a time down. Today I ran outside and took a bottle with Powerade in it and it went down fine.

I also have to make sure I always plan ahead when I go out of town to make sure I have enough Propel mix. I just got back from vacation and I ran out while I was gone. I made it to one grocery store and they didn't have the mix I wanted.

I guess I just wanted confirmation that others still have this problem farther out.

Thanks!

I understand, I've been a little upset about the water issue this week too.  It's hot outside, I'm walking, and water sucks.  I love my propel!!!

However, I googled that baking soda thing, and found you are suppose to put 2 tsp in a cup of water.  I put 2 tsp in 3 cups of water.....and you guessed it...GROSS!!!!!

Just call me a Guinea pig.....I just HAD to try it!!!!!!

I don't recommend it!

It has to do with the surface tension of our stomach fluids. If there is something in the water, it can break the surface tension easier.

Just try adding an herbal teabag to your water. I like Celestial Sasonings Raspberry Zinger. They have other flavors too. No need for boiling water, the flavors still infuse into the water. Add a bit of stevia if you want or try it alone. Or just add a slice of orange, lemon or lime to your bottle.

I have added orange slices to water and it works, it's just incoveinent.

What's weird is sometimes I can drink plain ice cold water with a straw, other times, like when I'm exercising, one sip and my stomach feels full and tight!
