Had a rough one.  The allergy doc wanted me to purposely go into a reaction and then get a serum tryptase and histamine lab drawn.  I stood next to the coffee shop, which is next to the lab in the hosp and breathed in the fumes of the muffins (wheat allergen) that they were baking.  When I became dizzy, tomato red flushed, short of breath, and a lump in the throat, I had the blood drawn.

The lab people knew what I was doing and was watching me close.  I didn't think I was reacting enough for the the test because I had not reached hives or and itchy mouth, but the lab people called the allergy doc and he told them to draw the blood and have me stop exposing myself to the wheat because he didn't want any more serious of a reaction than I had going on, and that I was reacting enough for the test to show it.

The test was to see if my reactions are really anaphylactic in nature, it will measure mast cells and histamine levels.  I spent the rest of the day sick and short of breath.  I'm still that way today.  Hopefully, I'll recover soon, and I am glad those tests are behind me.  I even woke up at 4 AM so short of breath that I started thinking about taking a prednisone....but, I didn't.  I'll see how today goes...I hate this allergy....

Thanks Gail.  I took some strong anti-histamines about 45 minutes ago and I can feel my lungs starting to clear.....YAY!

I like this thread cuz I get bored and stuck on the same easy things.  Guess I need to make more things from scratch cuz I need to lose a few more pounds to feel right.  Need to cut back on the fats!

May, do I LOVE this VSG!!!!!  Life is so much better because I like myself for the first time in my life.
