I hope you don't mind me asking how you support yourself in Costa Rica? I have a few teacher friends that are looking to retire there and was just curious what you do there. It looks like a beautiful place!

I have a small hotel in Manuel Antonio, Me and my husband built it ourselves, and we made #1 on TripAdvisor, so that keeps me busy and with an income.

But the cost of living is so much less than San Francisco, we are able to live on MUCH less and have a higher quality of life IMO.

We saved up before we moved here and then I worked as an English Teacher for a while and my husband did computer support.

Once you get used to the scorpions, leopards and monkeys, its OK :)

Hope you don't mind- but can you PM me the name of the hotel? Someday I plan to visit CR (my dad grew up there) and all I've ever seen have been pics.. some of my friends visited for a few weeks last year, and have considered retiring there.. for the same reasons! I'd love to get there sometime in the next few years!

Wow, pretty place!

I know I said it on the main board, but I am so happy you posted these- and that you had pics of it.. Almost all of us have been in the regain cycle before, and it just drives it home that this is totally in our control and on us to continue to work it.. and kudos for moving to a much healthier place in the world.. talk about a dream come true!

Great post...thanks so much for sharing! It really is an inspiration to hear your story! I am now officially into my 3rd year and I can tell it is harder..I am much hungrier. Gotta keep up the hard work!

Your story is very inspirational. So many times when people regain, they are unable to lose the weight. I admire your tenacity for being able to get back on track. You have worked very hard for this and I hope that you feel very proud of yourself.

I've always wanted to go to Costa Rica. Have you done any white-water rafting on the rivers there?
