YAY!

Glad you are alive. Sucktastic about the pain. I totes understand as while I have a high pain tolerance, I gots me a mutation in the mu opioid receptor that makes me less receptive to most opioids (I require tons of it to get a response) and I do best with non-opioids. But try explaining that to nursing staff. :)

Hang in there and rest up!

 Hey guys -

Thanks for all of your well wishes - really appreciate them!

About the pain, I'm not trying to be a macho man - The regular schedule of pain pills isn't enough for my level of pain. It's really quite bad between pills. I spoke to my surgeon about this yesterday afternoon and he cautioned me about getting hooked and or becoming so nauseated that I throw up (pretty tragic in my condition). So I stayed on the original schedule and early this morning I was in tears - I felt like there was such a great PRESSURE in my lower abdomin. I called my surgeon at 2:30am because I didn't know what to do - literally was writhing in pain. He yelled at me for waking him up since I "wasn't keeping up with my pills" .... Grrr

I said hell with it and increase my dose 50% and no longer want to die. I feel really bad for my fiancé because he's just been watching me moan in pain and is frustrated he can't fix it for me.

Oh we also tried to log-roll out of bed so I could blissfully stand for a bit. - that was a major no-go :(

(((((((HUGS)))))))  oh, you poor thing.

I'll bet your surgeon regrets telling you to stay on schedule, instead of "keep up with your pain"

I'm glad you upped your dosage, I'm glad you feel a little better.  A boys gotta do, what a boys gotta do.

Just remember, this to shall pass......and the pain will subside little by little until one day you feel normal again...

Can you use something like motrin/ibuprofen (high doses, not the standard otc 200 mg dose) in between your doses of stronger pain meds? Often times, an anti-inflammatory will be prescribed to use in between doses of the meds. As long as you aren't having any bleeding problems currently, it may be okay. If you can, check with the surgeon.

Gentle hugs to you. I hope you feel better with each passing day.

You did the right thing.  My surgeon gave me very different advice.  He told me to make sure, I was not in pain and to call him immediately if I was suffering at all.  He would have upped my dosage, I have no questions about it.  Stay ahead of the pain, you will not get addicted, that is BS.  I am glad you did what you did, you will be better now.  My guess is that he under-medicated you to begin with, and that your new dosage is closer to what you needed.  Call me if you want/need to talk, I am home after 10:30 today.  I am here for you, just reach out.
