How do you deal...?

How do you deal when you sit down to a meal, hungry, eat a few bites then you are full but your tastebuds want more?  It's a little frustrating.  I don't eat past "satisfied" but I wish my tastebuds would be satisfied when my sleeve is.

Thanks for letting me vent!!!

I had this problem for months and it still hits on a rare occasion but mostly when I am eating for the wrong reasons. I suppose it is just something I have gotten used to and moved past. Food and I just do not have the same relationship we used to. I do not get the same pleasure from eating as it generally still upsets my system. I suppose in a way I am blessed with the complications I have had as it has forced me to break that love affair.

I think while sometimes it happen when I'm too hungry.  I had a very small lunch and was very busy yesterday.  It's not something that happens very often it was just the smell of dinner smelled so good and few bites (maybe 5 little bites)  and I was full and was fine with being full it just tasted so good!

try to drink a big glass of water a half hour or so before a meal if possible. and try to eat slower - take tiny bites. have an after dinner sugar free mint or something to tell your mouth that dinner is over.   but yeah, its tough to wish you could eat more and sleeve says no way.  if you have ever pushed your sleeve to the point of being sick, remind yourself of that feeling to make yourself more willing to stop.   diane

Eating slower is really my biggest hurdle.  I'm a "get it over with" kind of person all around to include my eating habits.

But NO, I don't over do it because I do know my sleeve and when enough is enough!

I'm going to have to try the sugar free mint too.  I always want a little something sweet after a meal.

Thank you!!

That is a big part of my bariatric food prep theory.......

For instance....... I like to cut my proteins into smaller pieces before cooking.....

That way you get more surface area to pack more flavor.....

You want a a true beginning, middle and strong finish to the flavors in every bite.....

Even Shrimp.....I like to butterfly them to get more surface area for it to hang on to flavor......

Hope this helps......

I understand what you are talking about.  I use to feel that way too.  Earlier out, it seemed that after my tummy was satisfied, my mouth still wanted a party.  Gradually, it balanced out, and my mouth adjusted to the change.  My satisfied tummy and mouth party are equal now.  My mouth is now satisfied at the same rate as my tummy.  I think it was gradual, because I didn't really notice.  Then one day it occurred to me that it was balanced.

Just like the sleeve amount of food I eat use to look like nothing to me early out.  Now, 3.5 ounces of meat and a couple of TBSP of veggies look like a whole lot of food to me.  My brain and eyeballs have also adjusted to my tummy size.

As Frisco always says "quality over quantity"  I make sure those bites that I eat are excellent and of great quality with an infusion of flavors.

Frisco...it's to early for food porn!!!!!   is what I need first!!!!  LOL

That's why I posted this, I never really had the problem earlier and don't very often.  As I said though I think it's because I was more hungry than usual and it had been a very busy day and I hadn't ate for quite a while.   But  eating slower is the answer, I just have to practice it!!!

I hear ya!  I'm from the school of "woof yer food down."  It has taken me a long time to learn to eat slow.  I eat very slowly now and my bites are tiny.  What amazes me is watching the rest of my family make regular portions disapear so fast.  I cannot fathom it anymore....

And at the same time, they can't believe how long it takes me to eat what looks like 5 bites to them, but is 20 bites to me!
