Ok, another maintenance treat-food find

Had a couple samples of these.. all good- save for the milk chocolate which was blah. The raspberry was the most indulgent, the mint was wonderful and the dark as well. I can see using these in "safe" desserts, or as an occasional nibble. Each bar is 5 squares, and I am perfectly fine with one square.. I am not a chocoholic, so just putting that out there.. there has been a bag of semi-sweet morsels, and a couple Ghirdelli dark chocolate bars in the house since pre-op, still not touched.. I kept them around for baking or occasional nibbling. Just don't want anyone mad at me if they find these too good!!

I don't know that I'd buy all the hype on the site, but they are tasty, and these satisfy the chocolate-wants as well as the real deal for me, so I may be able to make my almond-flour chocolate torte once again, and perhaps my friends will never know the diff, hahah! They offer a 5 bar sampler, and they throw in one of their little mint bars too.. I will be ordering the mini-mint bars for sure..

Edited to add: I just noted the nut info below does not match the bars.. on the bars, they do not break out the erythritol, just total carbs and fiber.. since the math does not add up below, not sure if they are omitting the sugar alcohols or if these are errors. EIther way- no sugar, and extremely low GI unlike malitol which is the common one in SF candy.

Here's something you can do with your chocolate. I made the recipe from Oxygen Magazine the other night and it's pretty yummy. I altered it as noted, below, for my personal taste.

Peanut Butter Protein  Balls

1/3c Natural Peanut Butter (I added 1/8 cup/cut back honey, used chunky style)
1/4c Honey (I cut this to 1/8 cup added PB, instead, as above)
3 Tbsp Flax Seed Meal
1 Scoop Isopure Dutch Chocolate Protein Powder
3 Tbsp Dark chocolate Pieces (I omitted, didn't have them, but used chunky natural PB for texture)

Mix ingredients together until they have the consistency of playdoh.  Roll into 14 balls, and refrigerate overnight.  The recipe as written has 80calories, 6g Carb/ 5g Protein per ball.  Mine were 72 calorie, 7g Protein, 5g Carb per ball.  I ate 3 balls (a little less than 2oz) before my workout last night. I would think you could substitute one of the Toriani SF syrups (perhaps even the peanut butter one) for the honey as a sweetener and get a similar effect.

Oh, I am so looking forward to PB again! I have some ideas for these, now including the above, thanks!
Also, wondering how plain protein powder mixed with a little SF flavor syrup, and natural PB would taste.. fridge to firm up, roll into balls, then dip in melted SF choc? PB Protein truffles? Hmmm...

I have a few ideas for these bars, as other than the mint & raspberry, I'm not likely to snack on them straight. Weird, I know. I have a very minor sweet tooth (more the salty-savory) but thankfully with the assistance of a couple friends, have gotten to try a few SF candy samples of late.. and a couple are beyond worthy-good. I try to avoid fake-foods and sugar alcohols... but, I want to avoid sugar more, so when I do have something candy-ish, if I have my own- it will be something SF. (Judy's Candies are the OMG-worthy ones, all malitol though!)
