Curious how much
So three and a half years out. Curious how much others can eat I can go to subway order a 6 in turkey flat bread sandwich with all the veggies I mean all of them everything they have there and I eat half or three inches in one sitting can the rest of you do that or less or more?? Just wondering thanks
I'm not sure I can acquaint to the the scale you're describing - I've only really been at maintenance for a couple months. While I have started to eat more carb sources, I'm still not eating things like breads - although I didn't know that Subway offered a flatbread. Is it dense?
I do know that my capacity now - only at 10 months out - is definitely more than it was even at a half-year out. Not sure "how much" it is though - only that when I have the same lunch every day, I know I'm eating it faster now than I was before the end of last year.
I guess I'm still driven by weighing things out measuring portions and eating it rather than seeing what I'm able to fit in... so... I'm a bad person to answer your question I think!

I don't know, either, Maureen, because I don't get sandwiches there, just the insides, but I imagine that's about my capacity. I have had a grilled hamburger at home with a bun using the Costco ready made patties, which are 1/3 lb uncooked, so probably 1/4 lb. cooked. With the bun, I can eat maybe 1/3 if I have a few bites of salad or anything else, a bit less than 1/2 if that's all I eat. But usually I take one bite with the bun and then just eat the meat--bread isn't worth it for me!

I don't eat bread, so I'm not much help there. I have eaten some crispbread or flat bread, but rarely. I usually eat about 2.5-3 ounces of meat, depending upon the type of meat, and still measure my portions. If I went to Subway, I would probably just eat the insides with some of the veggies. If I eat a smaller portion of meat, I can usually eat more veggies. Seems to vary on daily basis.
I am almost 21 months out.

Thanks everyone It helps knowing what others are doing I guess I shouldn't worry too much as I have been maintaining for almost three years I just keep thinking that they say the magic number is the five year mark I guess I'll just keep doing what I do as long as it is working right. Funny you all make me feel so guilty for eating bread lol but I don't eat it often so I guess it is ok moderation they say thanks again
Don't feel guilty--believe me, I eat plenty of "non-plan" items, just bread isn't usually one of 'em! I'm not sure of that magic number..I'm only 3 months shy of my 5 year anniversary, and I don't AT ALL feel like I've got this in the bag permanently, unfortunately. I think it's going to be a lifelong battle, though I do feel really good knowing that I've maintained this long, which I've never been able to do before...

Nice to see you Maureen! I had a lower than usual night tonight, but remembered my quantities so I thought I'd add them. I had a lobster (just over a lb which equates to 3-4 ounces of actual lobster meat). I had 1 tablespoon of rice and a cob of corn. (and a glass of red wine :). I had 1 claw and a chunk of the tail leftover, probably a little over an ounce,, about half the tablespoon of rice and 3 small bites of my hubbies corn on the cob. I can often eat more than that though.
Don't feel guilty, you're doing terrific, keep posting!

Hi Maureen!! I've had Subway a few times (3-4) during the past year. I usually order a chicken bacon ranch sandwich on the flatbread with black olives and onions. I dont like lettuce, pickles, or peppers and am allergic to tomatoes. I normally remove the top portion of the bread and fold up the bottom piece around my fillings. I can eat a little less than 1/2 of it.
I do eat bread, pasta, potatoes and rice in moderation. I generally do not have more than 1 of these items per week and limit it to 1 serving. I'm not a person who has the "never" can have list. As long as I limit them and control myself I'm good!!

I can't eat an entire Subway 6". But I never could even pre-op. When I could eat a LOT.
I think a better test of sleeve capacity is the Cottage Cheese test. It's a controlled test where everyone does the same thing. At one point, a bunch of us on the VSG board all did it in the same month and Noel B. compiled the results. I'm not sure what she did with them though.
I last did that test at 3 years out and could eat around 5.5 oz. I generally can eat 5.5 - 6.5 oz whenever I do the test. It varies just like my capacity varies depending on the day.
