VSG Maintenance Group
Still learning
So, here is my confession.
I bowl every Monday night in a mixed league. I usually eat beef jerky or Special K Cracker Chips while driving to the bowling center, bowling alley food is the devil!!
So last night, I didn't eat while driving and thought I'll just wait until I get home to eat a left over hamburger patty.
It wasn't too long until I started feeling dizzy and shaking. I almost fainted on the approach. I broke down and bought some cheese crackers from the vending machine just to feel better.
So because of my poor / lack of planning, I ate something outside of program.
Lesson Learned, I hope!!!

Don't feel bad, Cheryl. This isn't one of those times that one consciously and deliberately goes outside of recommended eating guides and then crows about it.
You're blood sugar likely was very, very low. I, for one, am glad that you did have access to something that would restore you and quickly. Not that you would want to do that every time, but the last thing you want to happen is to have really low blood sugar, then run around in the front yard in your underwear and not know where you are.
That happened to my husband's uncle, actually.
Anyway, being prepared for just such instances is part of the learning process whether one has had the VSG, or when one is diagnosed as being diabetic.
I have no doubt that you will be better prepared the next time so that you do not experience those symptoms and you will manage it by choosing the appropriate foods to combat such a situation in the future!
Glad you are OK!

thanks for sharing this important lesson as we all have the potential to become ill from not eating. I keep beef jerky in my car after a few unpleasant times and I bet you will too from now on. Eating the crackers was the right thing to do and no harm will come from it. bet you won't make that mistake again and you may have saved others from it. diane
