Breaking New!

New Flash. Hubby Shrinking Nerd just walked in and announced he has now lost 100 lbs since surgery November 11 and a total of 141 lbs with pre op loss!!!  So thats 100 lbs in under 6 months from surgery!  He is doing so well and I am very proud of him. He sticks to the program and its paying off.

His problems have been continued nausea. After nearly 6 months he still takes an anti nausea pill. And he is also fatigued. We all went through that but I recall feeling more energy after I got some weight off. He is getting his fluid in (after getting red the riot act by dr. for dehydration a few weeks ago) so that is going better.  Anybody have any ideas?

We have lost 266 lbs between us. A much lighter household we are.

How are his labs? TSH and iron? Is he getting in enough calories and fluids? I assume he is taking his vitamins, including B12? Is he allowing sufficient rest periods between exercise?

yep, he takes all supplements. hadn't had any labs but i think he should since the extra fluids have not fully resolved things. and he doesn't exercise much. too tired.   i am nagging him  to call doc. diane

How many calories/day, grams of protein/day, carbs/day is he eating?

Nausea sucks. I had problems with nausea for the first 2.5 months, but it did eventually resolve. Is he taking anything for it? I took Zofran for awhile, which did help. Is he on an acid reducer or PPI? Excess acid can also contribute to nausea, which as I look back on my experience, may have also made the nausea worse.

He is doing great!! He had a wonderful role model.

Hi diane -

Congrats to the Nerd (and you!) on your respective journies - really sorry to hear about his nausea - that sucks.  Especially after so long.  Guess it didn't have anything to do with the volume or speed of his eating after all?

What does Cirangle say?

Nag, nag!  :)

Really wish him a clear and rapid path out of nausea.  That would drive me crazy.

Diane--I had nausea too but Reglan for several weeks cured it. Mine was a slow-emptying stomach and Reglan makes it empty faster. Dr. Cirangle should address it--do motility studies or something. No one wants to live with nausea and there is a physiological reason for it. My husband and I have lost 240 pounds (hubby lost 80 pounds just from the great lifestyle changes and new diet and exercise. Truly amazing what a couple can do together when they put their minds to it.) Tell your hubby congrats!
