Are You Losing More Weight?

Someone asked me this question today. And over the past year and a half I have heard it quite a few times.

Can't figure this out. I reached my current weight in the fall of 2010 and have stayed pretty much the same ever since withing a few pounds. I actually weigh about 2 pounds more than my lowest.

So I am wondering what it is on any given day that makes people think I am losing more? Anybody else get this?

I hear that about once a week!
I don't get it, I have stayed within the same basic 3 pound range for months.

I get that too. Although in my case it may be due to the my bounce. I do tend to bounce within this ten pound range of mine. mainly within a five pound window of 193 - 198. I contribute that to the fact that my body still swells after plastics and the doctor said that can happen up to a year.

I'm also strength training more so I may be converting fat to muscle and loosing inches. This morning I checked the body fat % on my scale and it looks like I lost a percentage point. Know its not that accurate but I use it as a baseline. Makes me think...maybe today I'll take my measurements and see.

I get that, too.    Or, "You aren't going to lose more, ARE YOU?"
Most of the time I laugh, but really, if you think about it, that is not really complimentary.
I sometimes think people want to comment, but don't know  what to say.

Sometimes I wonder if it's not a reaction to others gaining around us? Most of my friends this last year and a half have put on weight.. some just a little, some a lot. The drifting upwards seems to be the norm for most folks, so someone staying smaller? Who knows?

I get that also......even though I've been the same weight for a while now....

Great point about people getting bigger around us.......

But, I also wear a more variety of clothes now and definitely can look different....

Just the difference between my tee shirt out or tucked.......Or a buttoned shirt worn out or tucked....

Or a more fitted sweatshirt vs. a baggy hooded one....same with jackets.....

yep. how we are dressed makes a big difference. i got this remark when i was wearing a somewhat too large jacket. but in my fat days i always felt thinner wearing stuff that was loose but looked better in snugger things.

I do think our bodies continue to change a little as the results of weight loss settle in. maybe a little more muscle here and a little less loose skin there. (I wish).

The funny thing about this is that it comes from people I see daily; not from those I see intermitantly.

This happened to me as well. It was a combination of them having a mental picture of me that was bigger than I was (so everytime they saw me, I seemed smaller than they remembered) and also the weight redistributing so I was actually getting smaller in some places (like my thighs).

I get that when I haven't seen someone in a week or so and it also depends on the clothes I am wearing on any given day- bottom line people just aren't use to us being thin even though it has been over three years for me I still get the I see you are not eating and you really need to eat something, I just ignore them I know I am not too thin I am in normal range infact could lose another 15lbs and still be in the healthy range so I just chalk it up to they just are not use to the new me yet. LOL
