Saw Dr. C. today-update on my surgery

You are absolutely right!  I remember now what the RNY/hypoglycemia problem is,  Like you said,  no plyoric valve, plus, the top of the INTESTINE is what stretches!!!  Then, the food in the pouch drops abruptly into that large opening of the intestines causing both dumping and hypoglycemia!

Thanks for explaining how a larger top of sleeve can contribute to GERD.  It makes sense.

It's good to know that my slow eating isn't a hiatal hernia symptom.  My gerd is bad though.  I cannot EVER go without my Zantac.  I take it twice a day.  Nexium never worked.  My doc actually put me on Zantac as a histamine 2 blocker to control my severe airborne wheat allergy.  It worked, and I no longer react to airborne wheat (as long as I don't miss a dose), but I also realized that it was working on my GERD, where Nexium wasn't helping much.

I'm so glad your spasms are gone.  It seems like he did an excellent job on you.  I think if I ever need anything like this done, I might have to fly out to California!!  The mesh thing is really innovative.  What a great doctor you have!

Thanks, Trish, and if you DO have a hiatal hernia that needs repair, you definitely should consider having Dr. Cirangle do it. It's definitely not an easy fix post VSG because they can't do the standard operation.
