Should I or Should I not confront the newbies?

So yeah, about a week ago I was having some work related frustrations, and went on a big rant about certain newbie mentalities

Sorry, I never figure out how to link individual messages well, but if you go to page 3 of the thread, you'll see a post from RosieSweetie21 saying that I should post this in the main VSG forum for newbies.  I won't retype it all out (it's there to read), but I essentially countered with I think it'll tick them off and create more harm than good.  She still thought it would be helpful since it's honest.

What do you all think?

I think it would be a good idea.   Everyone going into this needs to have realistic expectations and a true understanding of what they are embarking on - this is not whatever diet that is popular which they can quit on a whim, but rather a life-altering lifestyle change that is here to stay for life.

I think that since it is not directed to one individual personally, no one should get ticked off.   If they are really serious about wanting this change and making it work, they should appreciate it!

How are the newbies going to learn if we don't teach them. I have a low tolerance for stupid also. To many people think this is a quick fix or fad. They are not thinking that 80% of our stomachs are being removed & the seriousness of the surgery. Go for it Ruggie!!!

I followed your other post on this subject and I just had to pop in and say one thing.

I've never understood why this great forum/website doesn't allow us to sticky FAQ's. At the very least it would be a place we could steer newbies to answer the questions that come up over and over and over....

Also, this is a learning forum. It also needs teachers. Some will listen. Some won't.

But the lurking person might here you. Or ther person that just read that one thread on a whim.

Those people are worth it, imo.

People don't have to agree with me and I don't have to agree with them. I still respect the hell out of many of them (you all). But, that one conversation might be enough to open the minds and eyes of some. It might be just what someone needed to hear to put the Snicker bar down.

Okay back to lurking.

I say go for it!  Hopefully some will learn from it and take away a sense of humour about the whole process, but especially the learning part!
