What are some of your "go to" foods that combat evening hunger?
If you have enough protein, your body will utilize your fat stores for energy, which is why we are all on high protein meal plans. If you are lacking in protein, your body has to get the energy from somewhere, and will go to your protein stores i.e. muscle first. Fat stores are the last and most difficult to burn off. It is a delicate balance in weight loss, between conservation of lean muscle mass versus fat loss. We always lose some muscle mass during weight loss, so to minimize this, we need a good intake of protein.
The first hour after exercise, is when your muscles are most open to accepting protein and carbs. If you don't replenish those stores, your body will use your lean muscle mass for energy. The more muscle mass that one has, the higher the metabolic rate, thus one will burn more calories.

So, my school of thought was more for someone who isn't eating a high protein/low carb diet, and since we are, we need to fuel it with protein before and after working out in order to preserve muscle mass. That makes sense. I'll feed my muscles from here on out, no more starving them around work-outs. Thank you. I want to keep my muscles.
Honestly, I'm not sure why I didn't get this. I learned this from my years on the Atkins diet. Bad memory I guess. Thank you for telling me.

"I believe that if you wait to eat after working out, you burn more calories. "
This is another area where there is all this "information" out there that isn't true.
The thing is, our bodies are constantly burning fat, stored energy and energy from our food. All that changes at any particular time is the %. But in the end it doesn't really matter because at night while we sleep, our body rebalances our energy stores. So all that matters is that you create as big a deficit as you can.
So, if you work out for 2 hours and use up all the glycogen (stored carbs) in your muscles, at night your body will burn fat to replace those glycogen stores. If you eat after a workout, your body will use those calories but if you have a deficit over the course of the day at some point the calories come from your fat stores, either later on in the day if you haven't eaten recently or at night when everything gets rebalanced.
To lose the most weight, you need to create the biggest calorie deficit over the course of the day. There is no way to trick your body into lose more weight than the deficit you've created.

WOW, My first thought was how do you survive on 750 calories this far out! Maybe you're hungry because you need to eat more.
I have a hard time mentally trusting my hunger, but I've found that if I truly am hungry, it's because I need it and I don't gain. This is a huge mental step to make during maintenance and so far it's working for me. I suppose if I start to gain I'll have to rethink things!
If I don't want to add calories, but need something I usually do a hot decaf tea. Otherwise I usually eat string cheese, nuts, fruit, or peanut butter.

How do I keep the calories this low this far out??? It's hard as all hell! But, I really want to get down another 20 pounds, so a girl has to do what a girl has to do to get there. This is what it's going to take, and I am willing to do it. The scale didn't budge on higher calories, I was simply maintaining. I've lost 5 pounds since lowering my calories to 750.
