Watch me turn into a jerk
I am so glad that the party in my head allows me to miss all the idiocy of these posts you talk about. I think it's because I just turn up Led Zepplin when I breeze through them.
Ruggie, I gotta tell ya though. When you get snarky you are a little more wordy than Frisco but for some reason it holds a lot less bite and a lot more humor.
And by the way, I suppose, based on your rhetoric, that my idea of adding cheesecake to up my calories during maintenance is not going to fly with you?
Ok, you got me laughing so hard I gotta pee.
Bye,
donna

I've been feeling similar lately... and it seems there's a lot more people supporting all this garbage rhetoric recently too. Which is scary. "Oh sure, cheat on your liquid diet, it's ok! just get back to the plan after you have your cheeseburger and onion rings."
I've not spent as much time on the main board... just can't keep doing all the 3 week stall responses... or the support when someone is stalling because they haven't followed the plan... or fill-in-the-blank.
It's too taxing on my psyche and I've got better things to do off-line!
I'll probably fade in and fade out as my tolerance level allows... which is too bad because I always pictured myself as someone who'd be there for a long time to support the newbs... I just don't have the energy to answer the same **** over and over and over and over again. What happened to reading a few posts before posting a topic of your own? Oh well...
Thanks for framing it up so nicely... made me laugh out loud at times. You're the best, Ruggie!

Ruggie,
You took the words right out of my mouth. It is nice to know I am not the only one thinking this stuff.
You missed the one that wanted to know if it was ok to drink 2 days before surgery, afterall it is liquid isn't it. I wrote her back and told her she was not ready to change her life. Just couldn't help it.
Thanks, you confirmed my thoughts and made me laugh.

Have you ever thought about doing stand-up comedy? Angry stand-up comedy that is!! LOL. This was priceless!!!!
The part that really bothers me is that the insurance companies and medical community may conclude eventually that the sleeve is a failure, which it isn't. Instead of knowing that the patient's non-compliance is the reason they failed at weight loss and maint, they may see the sleeve as a failure, which will ruin it for compliant patients who would do good with the sleeve. It took a lot of work to get insurance companies on board with the VSG surgery, and I worry that this new crop of newbies will ruin it for those compliant patients in the long run.
It's not just VSG folks. It is common amongst all the WLS procedures. Any of the surgeries can be eaten around. So far, EWL is almost equal after one year for the RNY and VSG. There are non-compliance issues with all the surgeries. Many people don't understand that for WLS to be successful, involves embracing and adhering to a change in lifestyle. Some people don't "get it." I certainly didn't, before WLS.
