"don't get too skinny!"
Good day maintenance family.
I am 10 months post op. I have surpassed my goal and I am now lower than my wedding day weight.
I feel amazing and blessed. I am so thankful for the posters here that gave sound advice. I also feel happy because this process has not been a struggle for me like it has for others. My challenge was bad choices and too much soda. I swear Pepsi alone was my "addiction". Now I cant even look at a soda without getting sick.
I am getting comments daily that I shouldn't get "too thin". Like many of us I still don't see myself as tiny. Since 80% of Americans are now overweight it seems like being bigger is the norm. Anywho, I am now 135 and still losing about 5-6 pounds a month. Did anyone NOT stop at goal to see how low they could go? When did the loss stop?
My celebrity body idol used to be JLo but now it's Jada Pinkett-Smith. I want to tighten up with muscle and still have a womanly body w curves. I was in this category before and know
it is possible. I also want to get the maximum out of my sleeve.
So when does the loss stop if you stay strict and on plan?

Thanks Leah
I want a cushion in case I gain 5/10 pounds back. I just don't want to be hasty and stop things too soon.

I have 0.4 to go yet and the hubby asked me this morning, "so you're not going to lose any more weight, right?" And I told him I still had a half pound to go and he looked at me like I was crazy. He tried to debate that 0.4 pound with me and I got really defensive. I'm determined to hit "the number" and I know 0.4 could just be water weight, but I want to hit it. Plain and simple. So I told him to stop arguing with me about it. But I guess he thinks I'm getting too boney (he complains about my back specifically being too boney).
*sigh* I'm almost there, but the comments and the looks have definitely started.

I'm kinda in the same boat. My husband is telling everyone I have lost too much! I never thought anyone would ever say that!
My surgeon in January said just to keep doing what I was doing and the body will stop on its on. My PCP recently said that after the first year the body will start to hold onto the weight.
My "fantasy goal" was 135. I am there now. I may drop down to 130 for bounce back, but I just want to stay where I'm at at 135.
Most Vets say get as low as you can, but I really don't want to lose another 10-20#.

Lynn (that's my middle name). I think I'll just stay on the same path and see where I end up on my 1yr anniversary.
I don't want to end up a bag of bones though!

My surgeon's goal was 115-130 so that was a big range. I actually got down to 112-113 at one point but now I'm up at the top of that range (126-127)
I never set a hard end goal because I wanted to make my goal based on how I looked, not a number on the scale.

This is kind of a grey area for me. Based on numbers, I originally though 125 was a good goal weight (I'm 5'5"). Now my WW scale says I am 22% body fat at my current weight of 122.7. Taking everyone's advice, I figured I'd drop 5-10 pounds under goal to allow for bounce-back.
I regularly get the "don't get too skinny" comment when I mention my weight numbers. I have a ton of excess skin (truly plastics worthy) so I was figuring that to be accounding for maybe 3 pounds or so of my weight. I know several celebrities of similar height to be in the 118 range so that was sort of my secondary goal and to get down to 18% body fat.
I am not sure what I should do differently in terms of diet since it seems like my diet is generally pretty balanced as it is, and time-wise it would be difficult to eat more often (god knows I cannot eat more than a half cup per meal if that).
