This link will show you where your state ranks.  I could not get it to copy correctly, so I did not include it.  I'm #13 in Texas!

I don't know anything about counties, but that sure would be great!  However, I did find the top 10 fattest cities in America.

Here's the lnik:

Gallup releases list of 10 fattest cities in America

Gallup reports that 26 percent of American adults are obese. Which cities have the highest percentages?

Not so affectionately known as America's Fattest Cities 2012, the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index ranks metropolitan areas in the United States that have the highest percentage of obese residents.

For this list, obese is defined as having a body mass index (BMI) of over 30. A person's BMI can be calculated by multiplying his/her weight in pounds by 703 and dividing that by height in inches squared. For example, a 6-foot man weighing 175 pounds would have a BMI of about 23.7.

Gallup reports that the cost of health care related to obesity is $147 billion annually. This includes such afflictions as diabetes, heart disease, strokes and particular forms of cancer.

Texas and West Virginia are the only states to house two cities on the top 10 list. Additionally, Washington is the only state west of Texas to hold one of the most obese cities.

Here are the top 10 most obese cities in America, according to Gallup.

10. Reading, Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania has an obesity rate of 28.6 percent, but in Reading that rate increases to 32.7 percent

9. Kennewick-Pasco-Richland, Washington

This Tri-Cities area has seen an increase in obesity since 2010, jumping from 31.5 percent to 33.2 percent this year.

8. Topeka, Kansas

The more than 127,000 residents of Topeka have dropped their overall obesity rate from 36 percent in 2010 to 33.3 percent this year.

7. Lakeland-Winter Haven, Florida

Sitting 45 miles south of Orlando, this area has a 33.5 percent obesity rate.

6. Charleston, West Virginia

The state capital is home to about 50,000 residents, and 33.8 percent of them are obese.

5. Beaumont-Port Arthur, Texas

With a 33.8 percent obesity rate, this area is the first of two Texas locales to make the top five.

4. Rockford, Illinois

Of the approximately 154,000 residents, 35.5 percent are obese and 10 percent have diabetes.

3. Huntington-Ashland, West Virginia-Kentucky-Ohio

This area lies across three states and holds a 36 percent obesity rate.

2. Binghamton, New York

Binghamton, about 175 miles northwest of New York City, holds more than 17,000 obese residents, a total of 37.6 percent.

1. McAllen-Edinburg-Mission, Texas

And Texas strikes again with the McAllen-Edinburg-Mission area near the Mexico-United States border. A reported 38.8 percent of people in this region are obese, and Gallup estimates that the cost to treat the obesity-related health problems in this area tops $410 million. The figures show that this area is getting fatter -- in 2010, the rate was 33.3 percent, 5.5 percent lower than its 2012 mark.

One of the goals of pointing out which cities are the fattest is to show how much money can be saved with improved health habits. According to Gallup, the government's 2010 goal was to get the nationwide obesity rate down to 15 percent. But last year, only three cities out of 190 surveyed met that goal.

Yeah. I think this is why I didn't get nearly the "you are too skinny" or "you aren't big enough for surgery" comments that some of my friends who live in the Midwest did.

Lovely to see Lakeland/Winter Haven on there. Woo hoo!

Seriously, I think you have to take into account our demographics, here.  The area is very heavily (no pun intended) populated with relatively low income retirees. Lots of 55+ trailer home developments. BMI's tend to climb with age and tend to be inversely proportional to income.
