3+ years and having some issues

Hi All! Popping back in to check and see if anyone might have thoughts on some issues I've been experiencing.

For the past 5 days or so, I have been experiencing stomach pain, bloating, weird belching and some regurgitation after eating. This is the second time I've experienced symptoms like this...the last was a couple of months ago and it lasted about a week. Never really had any problens like this before. Since surgery, I've had a definite acid reflux issue, but it was very under control with one PPI a day.

I am not a nervous nelly - but I'm concerned. So I thought I'd reach out and see if anyone had experienced something similar.

I will note that I did overeat somewhat in the days before this started happening...my famnily was down visiting Music City for the first time and I was obligated to join them in an overindulgence in fried chicken and pecan pie. So that could be an issue...but I don't remember something similar when this happened the first time.

I'm also a bit stuck because i had my surgery in NYC and moved down to Nashville last year, so can't just pop in to my surgeon. I'm going to try to find a gastro who is familiar with VSG, but I'm not sure how to go about that. In the meantime, I thought I'd see what OH had to say!

Any insight or thoughts are appreciated!

Maureen

With all due respect, Sleevebear, I'm not sure who you think you're speaking to. I'm 3 years out, down 130 lbs and have been maintaining quite satisfactorily since I stopped actively losing. I didn't mention anything about "trigger foods" nor do I have a problem with "trigger foods" -- if you do, that's your problem and you shouldn't project. You can take your condescending attitude and shove it -- or save it for a newbie who doesn't know any better.

As I mentioned, I have every intention of seeing a doctor, but seeing as it's a WEEKEND and it's unlikely that I will be able to get in to see a gastro on a Saturday evening and I already explained that I don't have access to my surgeon since I have relocated, I thought I'd reach out to the OH community to see if anyone had experienced something similar. If you have not, and have nothing useful to contribute, then you should do us all a favor and STFU.

Seriously!? Do you know for a fact that f*cking around with trigger foods is an issue with the OP and that is what is causing her issues?? I do agree with her that she should see a doctor however in my opinion your response was VERY uncalled for!!

Maureen, do you still have your gallbladder? I didnt really have pain but I did have some bloating and the top of my stomach was very tender to the touch. Definately check in with a doctor soon, especially since you have had a similar issue before. Let us know what you find out!!

I do still have my gallbladder...and i have that tenderness as well! I hadn't really thought gallbladder because I remember my mother and father being in TERRIBLE pain when they had issues with theirs and I'm not in that kind of dicomfort. But of course not everyone presents the same...so definitely something to keep in mind.

Thanks for your input!

Your welcome!! I never had the TERRIBLE pain that others have talked about which I am VERY thankful for. The tenderness is what bothered me the most and I would comment on it ever time I saw the doctor. After about 3 months they did a CT scan and confirmed the gallstones. I havent had any tenderness since it was removed.

Good Luck!!

It sounds like, that it may be an acid issue and/or GERD (gastric esophageal reflux disorder). I have similar symptoms and foods can trigger the acid producing cells in the stomach to start releasing more acid. Fried foods and other rich foods can trigger this response, as well as any other assortment of food items. It may take some time to get things calmed down. Have you tried increasing the PPI to twice/day and/or using something like Mylanta? Sometimes, Mylanta or another antacid can help to take the edge off your sx. Staying away from the offending items can help, but I have a hard time staying away from coffee.

Sorry that you received such an inappropriate response by a previous poster. Generally, this board is quite civil and respectful.

I think your PCP could handle this.

Thanks for your reply! I upped my PPI to 2 today, and I've been eating small, soft non-acidy foods for the past 2 days...we'll see what that does!

Thanks again!

After reviewing symptoms for gall bladder disease, some of your symptoms do fit that profile, so your pcp should be able to tease it out.
