Im confused...
So I go see my surgeon today for a checkup I was under the impression that I should be seeing her this far out as a routine checkup. Anyway, i have question for her about my levels, and my stalls and my reflux.... get this....
She says
" Well we can look into me doing a bypass over your vsg.."
I was like WTF?????????????????????
Why would she say that I need to lose 30 damn more pounds
numer 1, how the hell would I qualify for another surgery ???
number 2 WTF would I want another damn surgery I feel like I escaped this one with no complications and problems why would I ...OMG
I lost all respect for her I am so done. I am going to a GI dr now
anyway thank you for letting me vent I am done.

Did she perhaps misunderstand what you were asking of her?? Then again, she's a surgeon. They like to cut!
How far out are you? I saw my surgeon a lot until I was 2 years out and even then I see him more than most people see theirs. Most see as 12 months, 18 months and 2 years and then yearly after that. But once you are yearly, if you have no history of issues, you can always just see your PCP.

Like MacMadame said, surgeons do like to cut - how bad is your reflux? I know sleeving can actually worsen reflux in some patients, which is why (perhaps) your surgeon suggested it - but surely you're just trying antacids / protein pump inhibitors first???
Maybe it was the combo of the reflux and a stall. Odd though.
Well, good luck with your GI - I'd take the time to try to find one that's familiar with weight loss surgery though. I went to one that wasn't, and that *#er made me get an unnecessary upper GI so he could "understand my biology" because he was apparently too old to Google it....

As the others have said, maybe she was just laying out all the options, thinking about the GERD, and the RnY over sleeve IS an option for severe GERD. Even the great Dr. Cirangle mentioned that as a possibility to me when we were discussing what to do about my GERD problem, and I've been at goal many many years. (I looked at him with such a look of horror that we dropped that line of inquiry right away!) Anyway, give her another chance--I bet she was not trying to push you into anything, just laying out options...

Here's a few ideas for you:
Number one, look at your diet. Are you eating low carb, low fat? Are you eating mostly lean protein and non starchy veggies with a little low fat dairy? This will get the weight off of you like nobody's business.
Second, look at what you are eating that might cause reflux or worsen it. The following things have a significant impact and increase in my reflux, even on a PPI:
Citric acid (found in things like crystal lite, MIO, etc.)
Lemon juice and citrus fruits
Tomatoes and sauce
Vinegar
Caffeine and Coffee (I can't/wont give this up, so everything else goes)
Mint
Wheat products
Do you eat any of these foods or a lot? Try cutting them out and see if that helps. My reflux has been acting up lately because I'm drinking too much MIO. Going to cut that out. But don't take my coffee dammit! LOL.
Hope that helps..

I too suffer from acid reflux. I take two PPI's daily. I asked my Dr. at my annual check up and he stated that it is uncommon, but some people suffer from worse reflux after the VSG then they did before. Recommendation was to continue taking the PPI or opt for the bypass. His suggestion was a resolution to the reflux not weight loss. So maybe your surgeon's suggestion was only an answer to one of your issues and not all of your issues. With 30 lbs to go you've done a great job thus far. I too have been at a stall for quite some time, but the body is still changing, even if the scale isn't moving.
Thank you guys for your responses. I am diffinatly eating too much carbs still wokring on my eating habits its a process I was/am a food addict especially junk food. But i know what i must do. Coffe I cant give up LOL...
But i have had reflux so I know the list of food to stay away from my reflux is not that bad and it is resolved with a ppi i take protonix. I can even go days without taken it and when it flares up i take one and im good.
i feel that I was blessed with a uneventful surgery I am not going to do another one just to relieve reflux unless it is eroding my esopogus then I would try another option if i wanted the bypass I would have done that in the first place I do not want to have my insides rearranged.
i was told on a FB group to do a liquid diet for a week to jump start my weight loss again but I feel like that is to much like dieting I want to change my relationship with food counseling is what i need !!!!
