1 Year Follow-Up Visit
I am one year out as of yesterday! Had my follow-up with the Dr. on my anniversary and he was very pleased.
My highest weight at the clinic pre-surgery was 248. My surgery weight was 234 and I weighed 139.4 on their scale making my BMI 21. And, that weight was after breakfast, coffee and water. I am weighing 137-138 at home, before breakfast and in my PJ's.
My Dr. predicted I'd lose for 6 more months, but very slowly. Maybe 5 pounds...
He asked about my eating but mostly my exercise and said the exercise is the key to losing and maintaining.
Have I said how happy I am for having VSG surgery???!!!!! Love it!
But, that said, I am somewhat nervous about this maintaining. I am more comfortable losing. So, maybe if I lose another 5, abeit slowly, that will be good for me, too.
Shopping for clothes is so much fun! Love to find bargins! But, I still find I gravitate to sizes too large. I am definately a size 6, but have bought some 8's also.
The RN who checked my vitals was impressed also. He said he sees alot of VSG patients at 1 year that have begun to gain. I lost 25# since my last follow-up.
All-in-all my VSG has been very "easy" and un-eventful. I made the decision this was a life altering surgery, and my life is certainly altered. I still measure all my food (at home at least), and don't ever "try" to get full, just eat till satisfied. Mr. Dr. asked what my capacity was, and I said I did not know, I measure and don't overeat. He really liked that answer. (Thanks, Frisco!)
He also asked if I was hungry between meals and if so, did I eat - I told him I eat Greek yogurt between meals and he thought that was good, too.
So, to sum it up, I am happy, my hubby is happy and my Dr. is happy. So, all is well!
I did see a different Dr. yesterday - my surgery Dr. is still deployed, so will have to wait until my 2 year follow-up to see him again! Prayers for a safe homecoming next month to Dr. Pfluke!
Have a Happy and Blessed Easter!

congratuations!!! Happy first year anniversary!!
Just had my 2 year not long ago, and I lost about 5-6 lb in my second year, altho I was at goal by year 1. I maintain about 6 lb below goal without really having to even work at it. I try to eat a well balanced diet, and try not to allow treats very often. I must stop eating before I am full. Getting full is very uncomfortable for me, and I try not to ever get full. I have eaten until full from time to time, when I am not really thinking about what I am doing, and regret it immediately. Some days I can eat much less than on other days, too, so that makes it a little harder, but am not complaining.....just sayin.
