NSV for the Shrinking Nerd
So hubby Shrinking Nerd doesn't come on here much but he had a great nsv today. He has lunch with "the guys" every Thursday. We live in a small town and restaurant selection is limited and there are some that one guy hates and others that hubby can't eat at so choices are really narrow.
So today they went to a place that was previously off limits because it has nothing but booths! Today they were able to eat comfortably there. Hubby said they had to move from the first offered booth because it was so narrow one of the other guys couldn't fit it either!!
This restaurant is so dumb. We have lived here nearly 10 years and I have never been to it for this reason - hubby couldn't go along - and its 6 blocks from our house. You would think they would get a clue that fat people like to go out to eat and get a few tables.

I saw a sign for a new "all you can eat" buffet today...and realized I will probably never eat at one of those again (not if I can help it anyway...waste of money!.) I love sitting in booths but I remember times when a booth was a very snug fit...
Congrats to your hubby! And you, Diane! Maintaining for 2 1/2 years is an accomplishment! I am coming up on 17 months myself. (But I still keep losing 1- 2 pounds per month...trying to figure out how to get in a little more to stabilize the weight... maintenance is a little harder than I thought it was going to be!)

whoa, whoa, whoa
I have found that many times the buffets are the best and cheapest places to eat because . . .
most offer a "to-go" buffet, that you fill up and take to the counter to be weighed; so you pay for what you eat.
I can get one bite of this and one bite of that, pick the meat out of stuffs; eyeball so that about one cup total of food is in the container, then pay about 3 to 4 bucks for it, and sit and eat with my family.
I have not ever been denied this--and I have tried many different buffets.

We use to have Golden Corral here, and that was one of the places I went.
Telephone them, explain that you had WLS, and that you are not physically able to eat more than one cup of food at a time. Ask if the offer a to-go buffet that is charged by a per pound price. Then you fill the styrofoam box, have it weighed and then take it back to the table to eat. If they do not offer a per pound pricing, then be bold enough to ask if you are able to pay the child's pricing since you will be eating less then a child would.
I have done this at Golden Corral, Chinese, Indian, and non-franchised buffets--and have not had anyone offer me a better price. And because of that, they have become my favorite places to go.

How awesome that he's experiencing those victories that we all had early on. I would be a litte jealous! LOL! That honeymoon period is such a gift. Maintenance is work! But I'm very thankful nonetheless.
