An Observation

Today I:

Ran the equivalent of a 5K
Did 5 loads of laundry
-- Folded and put away 3 loads of people laundry
-- Put away 2 loads of dog laundry
Brushed my pool and cleaned the filter
Scrubbed algae off my deck umbrella
Hosed off the pool deck and lanai
Cleaned most of my house
Took a walk with my husband around a lake downtown
Went grocery shopping

About 7:00pm I had a splitting headache and had that 'low blood sugar feeling." I had only eaten 900 calories for the day and about 80g protein.  20 minutes later after a 'sleeve appropriate' snack, I felt 100% better.  I was never hungry -- just headachy and grumpy. Not having hunger is awesome. Forgetting to eat not so awesome.

Isn't it great to be able to do so much more in a day and have energy left for fun stuff too?  I know that sort of shakey icky feeling that means you need to eat and its a feeling I rarely got before vsg because I was always eating.  Forgetting to eat is actually kind of cool as it means you have made some big life changes and your body will eventually remind you in some way.

Used to be I could do only one of those things in a day. Doesn't it seem like the more you can do, the more there is to do?!  Thats life i guess.   Diane

It is great, I agree.  My husband is getting quite aggravated with me because he likes to sit and watch 6 episodes in a row of a tv series on Netflix, and it make him feel guilty (i.e., like a fat slug, in his words)  to do so if I'm up and buzzing around the house.  There is always something to do at my place (3 acres, house full of dogs), and I start to twitch if I stay still too long, now.  I have always been active and busy, but I don't have to take breaks and naps, etc., like I used to.  I can do 2 hours of work outside in the heat without stopping.

I work long hours at stressful, demanding job. I find the puttering and working around my house much more relaxing and rewarding than sitting around my house.

It's all good :)

Yup, happens to me almost everyday!  I worked out for an 1 1/2 hours today with a shake in my tummy, went to my parents for a visit and had a few tortilla chips, then went to physical therapy for 2 1/2 hours and it is now 6:00pm and I've probably had about 800 calories today.  I managed to eat a protein bar on my way home from PT.  I'm way behind but I don't feel anything at all.  Not hungry or headachy or grumpy...just sleepyish.  It's become my new normal.  Thank God I don't work because I'd probably be underweight from forgetting to eat.  When I'm home I force myself to eat every 3 hours.

I find it easier to remember to eat at work because my days are more structured, and I spend chunks of it at my desk. I am out in the plant quite a bit, but it's in planned intervals.  At home, I start at 5:30 and go until 11;00pm on the weekends, moving from one task to the next.  That's when I seem to forget :)

You have so much to do, I would be shocked if you also needed to go to the gym for exercise routine..... The work you describe, is my idea of the best kind of exercise. Growing up, it was unusual for people in my acquaintance to go to a gym for a workout, because they were so busy working, that they didn't have time or reason to go to a gym. No need for a workout. We didn't even have a TV when I was young. When I got married (age 20) We had a rule in the house that the TV was never turned on until our days work was completely done. We sometimes watched TV in the evening after supper, then the 10 oclock news and to sleep. I was very thin then, and somehow over the years, everything changed. More fast food, longer work hours, and later nights. Then high speed internet, and computer time in the morning as well as at night. Then it became the normal to hardly ever watch TV without also being on the computer. Multitasking is what we call it, but it amounts to sedentary time, and fewer calories burned.
The busy days that you describe are becoming more usual for me, and I am able to keep up a pace that I had long since given up trying to maintain. I don't, and never have been, a "go to the gym" person, but the exercise of work is something that I enjoy and respect.
Loved your post, and understand the "forgetting to eat", as recently this also happens to me on my busiest of days.
Sorry you get to the point of feeling ill. I find that when my grandchildren visit, I have a tendency to lose 3 or 4 lbs because I am too busy to eat enough to maintain my weight, and I am very, very active keeping up with them.
I love being able to be active again, so I am not complaining!!!

Wishing you all the best, Carol
count your blessings!!!!   At goal weight.   I am 5 ft 3.
