Increase your water - cramps are caused by lack of hydration. That has been my experience. Hope this helps you.

I get cramps occasionally at night, and for me, it's magnesium. There is magnesium in the calcium I take, but possibly not enough so I have some extra magnesium and if I take an extra one, the cramping stops. I sympathize--I know it HURTS!

Like ThinLizzy, I used to get these at night when I wasn't getting enough magnesium - or was drinking a crazy amount of fluids and flushing it out.  I'd wake up from the intense charlie-horse pain in the middle of the night.  Magnesium pills "cured" me of this.  They're cheap too.  Magnesium is my vote - if you were low enough on potassium to cause night-time charlie horses, I'd think you'd be suffering from a bunch of other effects as well.
