not all yogurt is the same!!
I posted a few days ago that I have been more hungry lately....
Everyone morning I have my NF yogurt with fruit and nuts, and alittle kashi cereal in it. I don't like greek yogurt, have tried it several times and I just can't stand it...or so I thought!
Yesterday at the store they were out of my favorite yogurt and so I decided to try greek yogurt again but a different brand. (I bought the chobani brand).. It has more calories than my NF yogurt and alot more protein...but the amazing thing was I really liked it and it kept me full until lunch. That was amazing to me....that extra protein in the greek yogurt really worked! That is my new favorite breakfast....greek yogurt! Just proves how much a difference protein makes for our little sleeves!

That is my daily breakfast, except I always add some protein powder to it, which really jacks up the protein. I usually add an additional 6-12 grams of protein, which is 25-50 more calories. My NF Greek yogurts of choice are plain Chobani or 0% Fage (my favorite). I also add cinnamon to it, which makes it extra yummy. Other high protein Greek yogurts include Siggi's, Voskos, and Oikos.
With the Chobani, I always get the NF Plain Greek Yogurt. I don't get the ones that already have the fruit in them. I add some type of berries for the sweetness. I like honey added to it, but I'm afraid that might turn into a slippery slope for me, but it is delicious.

good deal pbj. GY is my usual breakfast and i like the Fage no fat as it has the most protein. I put one teaspoon of honey on it (did this during weigt loss phase too) and its soo good with that bit of honey. you can get either brand plain and add some fruit or the honey. its the best and you can get 20 or more g protein right off the bat. chobani makes fat free too. When I make the time, Fage plain with some banana, SF honey and a few walnuts is my favorite breakfast. SF honey? Yes. I get it at WalMart. Who woulda thunk it?!

I love the Chobani, Fage and Oikos brands and usually have 1/2 cup with a scoop of protein and some cinnamon. So good, and 37 grams of protein to boot! This meal is usually an afternoon snack for me and keeps me full for at least 3 hours. I can barely even fini**** Also, at night if I'm feeling snacky, I chop up a small amount of apple with skin on...maybe an 1 or 1 1/2 ounces and add a quarter cup of GY, a Tbsp chopped walnuts/pecans, cinnamon and sweetener. It stops me from eating bad stuff, lol.

What a difference in programs. When the dietitian saw my menu at my one year visit, she said that because of what I added to the yogurt, she didn't consider it a slider food. A small amount of nuts for a healthy fat, additional protein, a little fruit, and a little bit of a high fiber cereal. She thought that it was fine. Another idea would be to mix the GY with some cottage cheese. A protein powerhouse.
The director of the Bariatric program for No. Cal Kaiser may be the same, but each site and department has their own chief and every site is different for most specialities. There may be general guidelines that are followed, but individual sites can have their own guidelines. Happens within all specialities and each site has a department head. The different service areas all vary, too.
I bought some Kroger brand Greek Yogurt today. It was Mint Strawberry, I didn't like it but decided to try it as a fruit dip. So I got some grapes and that made it a lot better. What surprised me is that I could only eat half the container. I put the rest up to eat later on tonight. I know the grapes are high in carbs but it has to be better than eating junk.
