So hungry at night??

The last few weeks I am finding myself VERY hungry ate at night when I am going to bed. I don't know what that is all about.  I don't want to eat at ths time for a vinous reasons....I just don't know why I am so much hungrier at night lately.  Anyone else experience this all of a sudden?  Any tips?

I just ordered some protein hot choc hoping that might help.  Thanks for all the hot choc recipes...I decided that I hate that protein powder stuff so I would just order the expensive stuff again...I know I like that.

well this seems to happen to a lot of us. i do get hungry at appropriate times but seems like there is always some diversion or its easier to stick to the proper eating rules during the day. sometimes i wish i was not such a night owl so i would just go to sleep early and not be so tempted to eat.

so while i don't have horrible evening hunger, i do have it and its come along gradually. i have a couple of things i allow myself to eat - protein coco being one and others being a glass of warm milk or my blob of peanut butter..

Be sure to add a little extra unsweetened coco powder to the protein coco mix  stuff as it sure makes it better.

there was  a recent post about someone being hungry all the time and some good responses like the more you eat in response to hunger or perceived hunger the more hungry you will get so make it a rule to space meals and snacks at regular intervals regardless of hunger.

McMadame just posted elsewhere that ghrelin is higher at night. no wonder we all want to eat at night.

Anyway, hope the coco helps you out.    Diane

Patty, this started happening to me at about six weeks post plastics.  It came out of nowhere.  I'm up 1-2 pounds on any given day from my post plastics weight. It goes up and down.  Could be post plastics related but is making me very uncomfortable.

I went to Costco today and loaded up on red peppers, cucumbers, broccoli etc and intend to feed that night hunger with veggies.  I hoe it backs off quickly!

What hot cocoa do you order?

Thanks everyone for your help!  Lee..I am thinking it is the 6 weeks post plastics thing!!  I am up 2 lbs from my lowest post plastics..still at goal but I was liking that lowest weight!  I think my metabolism is back to normal!!...ugh!!  I go back to the gym on Friday...thank goodness.
I went and got a bunch of veggies too....I wasn't doing them at night just during the day but night is good too..I will try that.
The hot choc I ordered is from nashua nutrition...I really like itIt is just the choc one...  I used it everyday when I had my sleeve...but it cost so much that I stopped..but I think I need it again so I ordered it.  I really helps me at night when I am hungry and satisfies my sweet tooth too.  I just didn't want to take a chance with the protein powderstuff...I have hated every protein powder I have ever tasted!

I just loved my metabolism post plastics!!..I wi**** could have lasted!

Could you tell me which hot chocolate protein you ordered - the brand?

The brand of hot choc is Nashua nutrition.  I get the chocolate one.  They have flavored choc ones but I just get the straight choc...very yummy!  I am hoping that will fill me up at night.

I hear ya on the post plastics metabolism boost.  I too wi**** would have lasted.  I think I'm going through some swelling.  I was 143.6 on Monday, 141.6 on Tuesday and 143.6 again this morning.  My mid section definitely feels swollen and my new belly button is a little red.  I think I can't freak out with these fluctuations and know that I'll be back at 140 when the swelling decides it's done. I've read that it can take 6 months to a year.  I'll just keep tracking my food, stay within my calorie guidelines, curtail any snacking and just trust in this post plastics process.  I know that I don't gain 2 pounds overnight, or shed 2 pounds overnight unless it's swelling.  I feel better when I'm in the 140-142 range so I'm being very careful today with my sodium choices.

I think I have a packet of the nashua hot cocoa in the drawer.  I did buy it once but then it seemed too pricey when I could use HydroWhey instead and get 30 grams of protein with 4 carbs.  I'll try it again and see what I think.

I have to admit, that when the evening hunger hits, I'm more likely to think of an ounce of nuts or an ounce of cheese etc than to think of raw veggies.  This is going to take some focused energy to create this new habit.  I'll put it into myfitnesspal and remember to check it before reaching for an ounce of nuts!  I think I may need to eat more at dinner so that I'm not as hungry later in the evening, or else add a protein shake the way Gail does.

Patty, I found my holy grail of chocolate protein powder. It is from Unjury - Chocolate Splendor.  Also, when the thought of drinking anything sweet is just too much to handle, Unjury Chicken Soup protein powder isn't bad.  Sipping something savory that's protein packed is a nice alternative.  I like the chocolate so much that I'll send you a scoop of it.  I've never liked any other.  Just PM me if you are interested.

I try to start my meals later in the day.  Breakfast around 12, lunch at three, dinner at six and late snack at 9.  I start the day with a RTD Premier protein shake around 8 and drink a few cups of coffee between that and breakfast, and drink a lot of water between meals also.  This schedule helps me with nite-time eating, since I'm either full or eating in the evening.  This schedule has me on about 1200 to 1400 calories a day, depending on what I eat at each feeding, and about 100 gms of protein.

I never lost my hunger so I'm ready to eat every three hours all day long.  This is very difficult for me since I'm a SAHM (the kitchen is such a short walk!).

The two things that are essential for me in the evenings is gum and coffee.  This usually keeps me on the right path.
