I'm hungry all the time- gaining weight
I haven't posted in a long time, but things are looking pretty bad and I need help.
I'm about 2 and a half years post op. And the last 6 months I have been really hungry and gaining weight. My low was 160 pounds and now I'm up to 177 pounds.
My problem is I am hungry all the time. I still have restriction but no matter what I eat I'm hungry again an hour later.
For instance yesterday I stuck to my low carb diet, I tried so hard not to eat unless hungry, and I still ate 2200 calories.
I've tried acid blockers, very low carb, increasing my water- nothing helps, I'm just hungry and uncomfortable.
I'm so sad and frustrated. I feel like I'm right back where I started. And I hate the feeling of being hungry and preoccupied with food.

Sorry that you are having a difficult time. Have you considered getting in contact with your surgeon and dietitian? They may be able to help you. I hope that you are getting enough protein. Are you exercising?
I wonder, if increased gastric emptying might be contributing to the hunger? Is it real hunger or "head hunger?"

I definitely think gastric emptying is the problem. It's real hunger, I do get some head hunger around 4 in the afternoon with cravings but that's not the main problem.
I think my stomach empties so fast that I can never stay full. Definitely like everyone says lean protein is the best, but even that only stays in my stomach for max 2 hours then I'm starving again.
I get A TON of protein since I am eating so frequently and I eat mostly protein.
Yesterday
2280 calories
26 grams carbs
157 grams protein

I would talk to your surgeon. Any acid problems? Eating every two hours really does increase your caloric intake for the day. Is it possible to go 3 hours?
One thing that really stays with me are eggs. For some reason they helped to curb the hunger, especially, when eaten in the AM. Have you tried egg whites with some cheese?

I eat a lot of hard boiled eggs, Premiere Protein from Costco, turkey breast, almonds, greek yogurt, turkey meatballs, string cheese.
So far today I've had 1 premiere protein and 2 hard boiled eggs. I bought some raw broccoli to snack on, although veggies only fill me up for about 30 minutes.
I do have a probiotic, although I don't take it every day. I should take it.
I just feel so desperate, there has to be SOME WAY I can be thin and not be hungry at the same time. I hate feeling hungry.

Hmmm I'm no expert and I HATE that hunger feeling as well and I'm thankful everyday that it hasn't come back.
Have you tried more dense protein? The dense protein you've listed ie the turkey breast and meatballs are you making that yourself? Or did it come from a bag from the store? I ask because I know for me I can eat way more of foods that come in bags then when I take it and cook it myself. I believe it has to do with the preservatives...not sure.
What is your restriction ie how much can you eat at one sitting if you were to measure it out.

Interesting because I too can eat that much cottage cheese well 6-8oz but I can also eat that much of anything, which means for ME my meals are 3 oz protein with 3oz vegetables.
Based on what you are eating I would say let go of the eggs and cheese. If you are like me then neither of those HOLDS me for long as where 3-4oz of breast chicken or 3-4oz of my homemade with no carb meatballs lasts me a long time too.
