Who's Still a Night Eater?

I have always been a night eater and the VSG has only changed WHAT I eat and how much not the time.  What I have found is that limiting my nighttime choices of what is available to me to eat works wonders in reducing my appetite.  I allow myself to have veggies and dip or soup and that's about it. I find that if carbs are not on the menu, my desire to eat decreases substantially.

I'm not exactly sure what a night eater is but I try to consume 50% of my calories by noon and, if that doesn't work, at least by the time I finish my afternoon snack. I do generally manage that.

I plan for a small dinner and a small evening snack.

And sometimes I have something when I get home but before dh makes dinner, too.

I think before I would eat a lot more calories at night than I do now (proportionately) but I still eat a lot at night compared to the standard advice.

I'm a night eater also.....

I do eat something in the morning ...but not 30grams protien......which was not very common pre-op.

My last feeding is pretty late at night.... I won't say.... because it's not legal in most States........

Unfortunately, I have always been a nighttime eater and I attribute that to becoming morbidly obese, since the majority of my calories were eaten in the evening. Now, I try to eat more during the AM, when I can. I try to eat a lot of protein in the AM and add Beneprotein to my NF Greek Yogurt to increase the protein even further.

Most of my snacks are centered around protein. In the evening, I have tried soynuts, popcorn, veggies, almonds and tend to rotate what I eat. I tried NSA fudgesicles, but found that I ate too many of them. I stick within my caloric range for the day and once I hit it, I stop eating. This is my major weakness. Since I workout after work, I have tried having a light protein drink afterwards. This seems to help to take the edge off my appetite and decreases my grazing tendency that I have in the evening.

I am and have always been a night owl....so therefore, I eat a lot at night...but when you stay up until 2 or 3 am, you are going to be hungry after dinner.

I don't worry about it, since it all balances out calorie wise since I get a late start to eating, with sleeping in later than most people....and I just eat every 3-4 hours during awake time.

This is me, exactly.  I'm 16.5 mos. out and still have nice restriction.  However, I just cannot eat in the morning.  It makes me sick.  I get most of my calories in the evening and late into the night, the majority of the time.  Probably not too healthy? But, I've managed to continue to slowly lose?

Count me in, too. I force myself to do a Chobani or eggs in the am...and lunch is the same way. It's the evenings when I'm most hungry. I have to be VERY cautious not to let it get out of hand in the evenings.

Yep. I do try to space my calories throughout the day, but I learned early on that if I didn't have a planned evening snack on the menu I was going to end up with an unplanned one. The planned ones are healthier.

That said, I don't eat carby snacks. I generally plan one of my "healthy fat" snacks for the evening, like nuts or nut butter. Up until recently it was a somewhat lower calorie protein snack like protein pudding or protein hot chocolate.

Yes, I eat at night. After dinner I always feel I want something sweet, so I will eat greek yogurt, a SF popsicle, a little PB, coffee with creamer (most of the time,) a square of dark chocolate, or a baby orange....

I get my protein hot chocolate from Nashua nutrition. It is expensive, but worth it to help get those extra protein grams in.

I too am a night eater. I always have been.  The further post op, the harder it's getting to resist, but that's in my head, not my sleeve.  I have two favorites.

GG Brancrisp with sharp cheddar cheese, the crisp is 16 calories, high fiber so medicinal

Lucerne (Safeway), low carb (3) fudge bar - frozen section.
