Who's Still a Night Eater?

Ok I bet every one of us was a night eater before wls even if we were morning people. Just wondering if this has changed for anyone?

I was always a night eater meaning I didn't eat much in the morning and probably got most of my calories at dinner and thereafter.  While I am a little more balanced these days (and eat only about a third of the calories I used to)  I still get half or more of my calories at dinner and after. Probably not a good thing but there it is. A good chunk is my evening spoon of peanut butter which is an important mood altering experience.

My surgeon says everyone eats a night but that getting 30 g of protein within the first hour of waking up is a good habit. Gag, I really can't do this but do find if I don't get in 25 before noon its hard to get 70 g for the day.

So how 'bout it? Who is still a night eater.     Diane

I am!!  I get very hungry at night...pretty much everynight.  What I usually have to satisfy me is diet hot chocolate or diet jello.  It is my tough time of the day food wise.

What do you do when you are so hungry?

Hi Diane,

Where do you get your protein hot coco?  I used to order it (it was very expensive) and I think I would like to go back to that, maybe it will fill me up more than just regular diet coco...so maybe you have a better place to get it.

Thanks
Patty

I use costco choc protein powder. first i heat milk or water in the microwave for about 1min 45 sec. then i dump it in the magic bullit knock off with the protein powder and a tsp of unsweetened coco powder. blend it and check temperature. you might have to nuke it again for another 10 sec. As you know, the stuff will curdle if it gets too hot but this works about right.   you can also mix powder into the sort of hot liquid with a whisk.   I tried this with designer whey choc and it curdled badly. the costco seems to tolerate a little more heat but still can't get it super hot.

you could probably add some choc protein powder to your diet hot choc. just don't over heat. a little cinnamon is good too.

Me too. I also have trouble eating protein in the morning, just not hungry. The thought of anything heavy, like eggs or meat, mostly makes me gag. So I eat my little shrimp wonton soup or maybe some yogurt just to get some protein in. I usually eat my lunch around 1:00 and I'm okay with protein by then, but I'm hungriest (both head and phsyically) at night...

Usually eat dinner about 6:00 or 7:00pm. After that I normally don't eat anything. I may have a sugar free pudding or a sugar free Ice Pop before 9:00. But other than that I don't eat much.

I do start off every morning with a Premier Protein shake. I use it to take my vitamins and meds. This allows me to start the day off with 30 g of protein. I find this the easiest way to make sure I get my protein in daily.

Not to whne too badly because I appreciate the benefits of having a metabolism that isn't broken, but I start at 5:30am and eat every couple of hours until bedtime.  To get in my protein and calories in,  I start with protein coffee, then cottage cheese with berries, then a snack, then lunch, then a snack,  then dinner, then protein coffee after I work out followed by a snack.  I feel like I eat constantly, right now.  I'm at 120-130g of protein a day, and it's work to get my protein and calories in. I've lost 3-4 lbs in the last 30 days at an average of 1300 calories a day and that's with the doctors juking around my thyroid meds.  I got all the way to 1363 today-- 100 of which is  Citrical Gummy Calcium...

My evening mood altering experience is a Klondike No Sugar Added Krunch bar.  Timing eatng, drinking, thyroid meds, calcium, and iron supplements (no tea, coffee, dairy, or whole grains 2 hours before or one hour after taking, oh and you can't lie down)  requires military precision. I hope I can go off the iron before too long.

I definitely fit in this category.  I eat the majority of my calories after noon.  And I am a morning person in every other respect.  I'd like more balance, but I'm afraid I would still eat what i do now in the evenings, so I'm not sure I'd get anywhere.  Maybe when I hit maintenance in a couple more pounds.

I wish I didn't have any desire to eat after 6pm but I do.
